Hmmm. I think a monkey would be so much less work than the Countess de Castiglione. You could not, for example, easily put a little tricorn on the Countess and sit her on your shoulder and call her Mr. Bobo. She would not like that one bit.
On the other hand, it would also be very difficult to get the monkey to dress his son up like a pretty girl and take lovely pictures, which would be very fun indeed. Nor would he have affairs with historically famous men and gossip about them, although I could be wrong about the affairs part.
In the end there are many, many monkeys and only one Countess de Castiglione.
