Upgraded MT to 3.12

| | Comments (3)

I was a brave girl and upgraded my blog software. It didn't overwrite my old templates and I am grateful. Still, there is plenty of tweaking to do in order to take advantage of new features.

One is the comments. I've enabled comment approval for the time being. And I've also enabled Typekey, MT's registered comment system. All you need to do, presumably, is register with Typekey, then you'll be able to post sans approval on my blog, and any others using MT 3.x.

But I'm not sure how that works yet. But the new system already has one hand entered spam in my holding tank, so I'm already grateful! Woo.

Also, LJcrosspost seems to work as long as you use the old static archives, as opposed to the new fangled php served pages. So, this is happy making.

Please report any anomalies you run across. I'll be fixing/putzing over the next week to get this tweaked properly.

Thanks to all!
Hugs!

MT 3.1

anyone out there upgraded to Movable Type 3.1?

I have a feeling it is going to break everything. And that ljcrosspost might not work.

How's the comment control? Does it control spam? Blacklist is the suck. My brother has been flooded with 238473865 time more spam since he installed Blacklist. It was a huge mistake.

We are desperate. But we are also busy and are concerned about having to rebuild both blogs FROM SCRATCH.

Help me.

I so relate

From someone who quit smoking a few years ago, this is so RIGHT THERE.
Jeffrey Zeldman is every designer's god and guru. We love him like we love the memory of a favorite stuffed animal from when we were very small. I'm totally serious.

You're right Mr. Zeldman, this stone too will pass. Trust me. I'm a designer.

And speaking of designing. All this work I've been doing has energized me to think ONCE AGAIN about my own websites. Alas. Sigh. Alas and sigh.

We would like to do something with the myriad of sites we have created. But we are daunted and creatively stuck.

I don't think I would re-do everything, but certainly creating a front end, and doing some architecture magic on the back end would give the illusion of something a bit more cohesive.

We want to be seen as a whole, creative person. Instead of "I thought an army created these sites! You can't all be the same person? What a freak! Have you been taking your pschytso meds?"

Check this! LJ ho!

Woooo. Coolest plugin worky-works. I just set up a Live Journal feed, so my posts automatically crosspost to LJ, for happy community joy.

It is still in the ugly and free stage. If you have LJ, please add me, I feel very cold and alone and afraid.

For other MT people:

And I also had to install this:

And I had to remove the hash plugin as it generated an error when trying to save the template mods.

Layout fixies

I mussed with the layout this afternoon. I removed all the scrolly-ness which will make my brother happy. Made the Super Dollfie Gallery more better (:/) and added gallery for Blythe.

Oh boy! Opinions are welcome...

And new linky banner: blastmilk-banner3.jpg

Spammy thingie

Just set up a MT hack that will help prevent comment spam on these blogs. So now you have a 6 digit random # to enter when you post your comments. Don't be afraid, it's easy!

Adding the linkie-poo for fellow MT'ers.

I made cute linky-poo banners. Please link me if you like me!

And let me know if you like linky on Blast Milk!

I also added the 18+ to the header banner. Because my dolls are hot and like to scamper about naked.
