Pottery Barn's Apothecary Bath Collection. Mrwowr.
I've never had such a deep winter slumber. We had a marvelously wet and early spring, the above was taken in February. A miniature daffodil hill sprung up in the middle of the garden. While only a few flowers bloomed, there are dozens of the plants in an ancient raised bed surrounded by a stone circle. We've since weeded and now wait to see if any more blooms will happen or whether we'll need to unearth the bulbs come fall to put the daffy back in the daffodil.
We've started an absinthe garden and sprinkled the earth will drifts of california wildflower seeds. The herb bed I planted in the old stone pond has exploded, yay!
Apologies to those near and far for the silence. My inbox is a wasteland and I'll be touching base with all of you soon.
*stretch!*
P.S. Oh, see the new site design? I'm still sweeping up, more to come!
I laugh when I find myself getting nearly as worked up over this one-day course outline: "Application Usability 1: Page-Level Building Blocks for Feature Design" as I do over the release line-up of a Dolpa.
I guess I picked the right field to be in. *happy sigh*
To you who feel like failures because you spent last year honing your web skills and serving clients, or running a business, or perhaps publishing content, you are special and lovely, so hold that pretty head high, and never let them see the tears.
Jeffrey Zeldman A List Apart
hi. I'll update and post how I did it for posterity later. woo! here's the corresponding lj entry.

My dsl and phone line have been down for three days. I'm logging in now for the first time since Friday. Will try to catch up with everyone today! With my access being minimal at the best of times, forgive me if I am behind or you haven't heard from me.
Love,
Bee
How come a leetle template tweak turns into a three month long project??? Guh. I just wanted to fix display issues in firefox. And I ended up scapping my old templates and starting with a fresh batch of MT virgin templates.
I don't know why it took so long. Oh yeah, because I'm freakin' indecisive! I get 90% done with the layout, and the module headers (wee nav banners on the left and right) absolutely elude me.
I'm still tweaking it, but I had to get them up before I went nutso.
*dancing around in circles*
Remember this post? Obvious PMS hissy fit aside, I think he's done it. Really done it.
It's here: Better File Uploader 2.0! | Eat Drink Sleep Movable Type
Totally worth the $10. Pay it.
Just tested and with simple plugin upload, tweaking some settings, MT suddenly has wizbang gallery creation at last! With lots of options, especially if you know your css. BAM! And I had six images uploaded, w/ same height ratio, with css wrapper (or NOT!). And it will stack entries, or paste them, or append to your entry.
And completely compatible with my previous gallery hack. wahoo, I say.
K, more testing and then I'll post something.
Swoon and die.
I've updated Décolleté with my review of Marie Antoinette, half way down the entry.
I'm now accepting comments on Décolleté, you can also add a news feed subscription via this link. Here's the Livejournal ready feed, add me!
EDIT: Read my review here ^_^
Ok, I've waited to watch the trailer til just now. I love suspense. Like pretending Christmas isn't next week.
And I have to admit I got shivers. Opens October 20th. I am a-quiver.
My passion for history and rococo in general, and the French Revolution in particular, need not be explained. I really adore Sofia. I super crush on Dunst and the little spaces between her teeth (boing!). And I really love the 80's. If it doesn't suck, I will so win.
*flutter* Shirley Hendersen, Marianne Faithful, Judy Davis... wah!
And this is as good a time as any to make the announcement official: Décolleté 2.0 is up! The Severed Head Gallery is TEN YEARS OLD! Can you stand it? It originally went up in the winter of 1996, when I was under-employed and living in New Orleans. I've now officially moved it from Chapel Perilous to Blastmilk.com. Home is where the heart is, eh?
Check out the Marie Antoinette galleries. And the Guillotine Galleries too! I will need to add an entry for Coppola's film I'm sure... unless I hate it. Which I hope I don't. Woo!
Warning: Working out some display issues in Firefox! I'm still working on expanding the galleries, links, and references. I have so, SO much material that is not posted. Hence my whinging about movable type and photogalleries the other week. Well, I've made it work, for the nonce. Feedback, corrections and suggestions very much welcomed! Just don't tell me it sucks in Firefox. I know...
doesn't exist. *shakes fist*
And it is freaking me the fuck out. I'm just sayin'.
Holy crap they spent all this energy on Vox giving it all the features that MT lacks AND I STILL DON'T HAVE integrated gallery creation/display. And the MT amazon plugins are borked. BORKED I say. And Vox crossposts with Typepad (who uses that?) and not MT or LJ or them with the other (I use an old, old, OLD, mt plugin to lj-crosspost).
Who's frustrated? There are gorgeous photo blog hacks for MT, but they don't do batch processing AND break with flickr posting. I love flickr but the MT plugins just give me a sidebar modules.
I need multiple blog management with the ability to have attached galleries on my domain. Words and pictures. Pictures and words. Every website I've ever done has been some kind of gallery and I'm reeeeally tired of making thumbnails. Or creating tables.
I want automagic. I love MT but this is becoming a deal breaker. I just don't know what to do and don't really have the time anyway. I revamped and re-upped last year on MT and while there has been some improvement the gallery issues still stand. There's so much I want to do, redo, with the website but it galls me to do it all by hand, again, when I want to force MT into being my perfect little CMS.
*falls down and cries*
I think I need to eat some buttered noodles.
...there will always be more to do. Working more won't change that. In fact, working more is actually counter-productive.
I'd like to design my life better. Tidy it up. More fun. More productive. I really love the work I do, I'm lucky... I just need to tweak it a bit. *grin*
one of these cute Blythe bags!?!?! You'll have to scroll down on that link. Please someone give me the scoop. *runs off to yjp* I'm desperate for a new purse. The floppy cheapo target bag I bought last week JUST ISN'T DOIN' IT FOR ME. I need the cute, the functional, the versatile.
Also, I am pining for a skinny white dollstown body. I love the fairy body! but at 53cm (w/ head) I think she'd be too small for Ginevra, who has a large noggin. Huge, really.
Where's my chriseunusosomanais!?!?!?
Also, Cola gave me a Vox invite (it's in beta). As nifty as it is it makes me jump up and down and clench my leetle feeests. Why don't they just update livejournal!?!? Why don't they allow cross posting from MT (they do from typepad)??? I love having my homepage website blog, I love MT, I love the community of livejournal. Can't I have all that??? Will I get stabbed for all the !?!?!?!?!?!
I've spent the past bloody week trying to get Media Manager (amazon plugin) to work on MT 3.3 and have failed, failed, failed. Vox has it all plugged right in. I want booklists and galleries. DAMNINT. Why can't I have all that with the flexability of an independent installation. And don't none of you mention wordpress, that is not a proper answer. Rawr.
I'm "blastmilk" if anyone wants to add me. Hahahah. Cranky pants.
"Web 2.0 is a fresh-faced starlet on the intertwingled longtail to the disruptive experience of tomorrow. Web 3.0 thinks you are so 2005." - Zeldman, as per usual
I apologize for the lack of DOLLIES AND PUPPIES, KITTENS AND BUNNIES!!! Honest. We'll be back.
I just got a new momoko today. rawr. OMG, I love her *falls over*
I'm thinking of adding a category of chamber pots in art & literature to the blog. I've been meaning to do a perma-gallery forever but just don't have the time to even update my old hobbies. So I thought maybe a random collection of images and book references posted to the blog might spice things up a little. Not scatalogical at all. Just intimate and old timey. Weeeeeeeeeeee!
Took the day off today. Finished production on yet another iteration of the corporate website and I'm totally beat. I had to work through some pain and illness so I was pretty ill tempered at work. Just hoping it didn't show too much :p
Halo from Blastmilk.com!
LJCrosspost is an oooold MT plugin and only works with statically generated templates. Well, the whole point is I don't want no statically generated freakin' files cluttering up my new spiffy clean dirs.
So I just added it to the main index, since it is always static. Woot!
::happy dance::
::sweat::
Updated to a fresh new instance of blastmilk.com. Rebuilt, revamped and reorged (just a little) but most of the magic is on the back end. I considered moving to Wordpress, but I'm pretty invested in MT, which has made huge improvements since the earlier versions, and I love the interface :p Plus, I run several blogs off of this instance of MT and converting my templates would be painful. Blah blah blah. I like it here. What I need is to get cozy with database management, so that is my next project. You know, after the 2384734 other things I have to do (updated to-do list later!).
Enjoy the crazy baby background, it makes great desktop wallpaper. That is my current stationary :p
We'll be testing notifications again, the fact that they didn't work on the previous blastmilk is what kicked me in the pants to update.
Also, I haven't been able to get LJCrosspost to work with this current version, I believe it is the php that it is choking on. So I'll have to keep playing with that. In the end I might end up with an RSS feed. But bah! I want my lj.
Oh! And I swear, I'll fix my email form. Sorry I've let it be broken for so long, it got abused by spambots *cry* so I busted it on purpose.
