At least R2D2 isn't rolling around the front page anymore (actually, if you have to do a Star Wars promo, that was better, since he matched the color scheme of the site).
I saw a post box painted up as R2D2 last night in downtown SF.
The R2-D2 post box is a nationwide promotion. Each mailing district is apparently getting 4 mailboxes each, to be placed in busy areas. We have one at our local shopping mall.
They're pretty neat!
