Introducing Miss Merry Wink, a premier Liebchen (#7!) by Fancyboots. Weeeeeeeeee! And yes, she was named after a little motel I saw a sign for up in the Sierras on the way to Tahoe :p

Pictures can't do her justice. She's 16" and so delicate and petite. Her little fingers and toes are all seperated and wee. And she's entirely sanded and blushed, what a treat! Her resin is to die for, the palest blushy pinky white. And she poses amazingly well. Her little arms are masterpieces.

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Diep wins the bloo ribbon prize for most beautiful dolly lips ever. That is all.

Oh, except for 283743 more pictures. And yes, all that bloo light is RAIN. Been raining for weeks here. As soon as I clear the christmas stuff out we'll have more pictures of Miss Merry and the girls. Medora got the spa treatment! But right now the christmas tree is in the way and makes it very difficult for dolly pix. Meh.

I love her little melancholy face. Meh.

New from Volks?

Also, what is this? New Kit Customize Figure:

volks_kit.jpg

Is it 1/6th, or...? The base body is only 5,000 yen so probably. Looks like there will be five heads to choose from? Reminds me a bit of the new Azone PureNeemo 25cm figures, except more ball-jointy. Which, btw, will be available as seperate customize figures in January or February as opposed to just dressed dolls.

This Volks figure seems to be available in January... anyone know anything?

EDIT: Blookat posted the English link! Personally, I think it is really neat. And it is ball joint small vinyl! Hoping we can get some on this side of the pond eventually...

Meh.

I'm home today with a terrible infection that makes me unhappy. My skin is not my friend. But I'm waiting for Liebchen which cheers me up a bit, but then she's not here and it is 4:33pm which again makes me sad.

Mr. Kallisti is obsessively finishing up his Batgirl Dollfie project. He started her last year, and then half way through the root job he rested her head on the heater and melted all his hard work. He's just now got over the devastation enough to finish her up. He's finished rooting and he's now gel'ing and setting her hair into flip curls. I'M SO IN LOVE!

Saw King Kong last night. Peter Jackson is the only director you can throw $3478234 billion dollars at and he'll still make a movie with heart. REAL sweet monkey heart, not fake Ron Spielberg heart :p Best. Movie. Ever. For now anyway...

It has been raining non-stop for almost three weeks. Really puts a cramp in the one commission I took for the holidays but I finally found a few dry hours this weekend. Also repainted Medora. She's lovely, but has really scary thin eyelids! Careful kids, I imagine they'd break easily!

More pictures in April when we have sunlight. Nyah.

Still searching for couture for all the smaller dolls that are here and on the way.

Um, what else. Oh! Yeah... bad week hormonally and medication wise. I've been rolling down the car window in small yuppified mountain towns and screaming "I HATE YOU!!!" at all the latte swilling mofo's that have ruined the universe. As well as standing in the middle of a Berkeley Super Market yelling "I HATE HIPPIES! Fookin' pumpkin, zucchini, raisin tamales! I hate you!"

K, for those that know me you might be a little shocked. Mr. Kallisti thinks it is hilarious, as do I... but the sudden tear bursters that go along with this sort of erratic behavior are making me feel like a crazy person. So back on the lexapro with me.

I still hate hippies. I think there should be a concentration camp for people who put raisins on their pizza. SERIOUS.

Merry Christmas!

Happy Saturnalia! from the Angels of Blastmilk!

This was my official christmas holiday card this year! So fun to print something custom, but I wish I'd been able to print more and send them to more people. Poo! But in any case, Happy Solstice et al to all!

And my Christmas has been fab and bursting with love and loot. I'm not used to being spoiled, but it is all the love I couldn't live without. Sigh...

We made a wee trip to Reno to junk shop but ended up getting comped a suite at the Peppermill o_0 so stayed the night. They haven't figured out we don't spend any money yet, yay! Ha! Came back with tbe best loot ever from the Reno antique shops. Dolly clothes haul GALORE, I've never been so lucky. Not to mention picking up a smoking boudoir doll for cheap. When we got home I had the largest box in the world waiting for me Friday... the FCS body for Demelza & Angelica the First from NotDoll from Celga... and it had been opened by customs! All was lovely though, celga had to custom build a box to ship them both. The FCS body came in what I assume is a Sato FCS box? It is white with "angels nest" tissue inside, very pretty. And the body is LOVELY. In perfect shape, with apple perky boobies et al. Angelica is a dream, her skin is palest pink. Her face is so delicate and the coloring so rosey yet soft at the same time. She came with her original outfit and one of the Glory Angel AR boy outfits... neither of which she is wearing right now. The christmas pix below are all the vintagey clothes from Friday's Reno haul (and there's so much more!). And my mother in law sent a LOAD of hand knitted caps, scarves and ponchos for the girls. Never seen anything so cute! Lulu is sporting the baby blue set.

An extra Happy Christmas from Demelza, Leopoldina and the new little Lizzie Lou Oiseaux!

P.S. I keep looking at this picture... it is so lovely I want to cry. Happy.

*squidgy face* Anais!

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Ok, THIS... this is why I knew I'd be kicking myself for not getting Tae/Anais in LA. Damn. Damn, damn, damn.

Ester, Brilliant Snow Fairy: Dolpa 14 auction model, OOAK white skinned Anais.

anais_auction.jpg

Please picture me jumping up and down waving my arms wildly. I could have waited for an FCS. I coulda! I'm a dummy. Now... if I could only get a white Anais. Sigh. Now THAT is an impossible dream...

Anyone want to sell me an Anais? or her head? I die.

Oh, and OOAK Madoka, Helge, Bloomy Snow Queen. These girls are auctioned for charity and highly unique and lovely.

Giant box of DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM winging its way from Japan from Celga!
Two large packages have left the Blastmilk premises to their new owners. Buh-bye!
Box of Liebchen LOVE winging its way from Fancyboots this week!
♠ Everything else M.I.A. Teehee.
Started thinking of names for F16 girl. OMG.
♠ Have had PMS of doom making this week very hard to enjoy despite my true happiness. WTF!?!?
♠ Work moved to new offices which isn't helping.
OMG, Liebchen! Can't wait. She'll be my Christmas Fairy... and with a name like Merry Wink who would have expected less?
Expecting phat raise in the new year. Woo!
♠ Snow White & Pink Poodle Momokos have been delayed til March/April. Boo.
So I ordered Wonderland Annz.

I don't usually post wish lists... but I've currently got SO MUCH up in the air, and I keep obsessing so hard about what I'm waiting for that I thought I'd let you all know what I'm up to [queue doom music].

Fancyboots Liebchen: Don't know when to expect her but I've already named her Merry Wink! First release by doll artist Fancyboots at about 16".
Hypermaniac So-som: due sometime in December, unpainted and ready for customization. My first tiny bjd at 13cm.
Angelregion/Notdoll "Only For You" Cossette: They've hinted she may ship in time for Christmas, but I'll believe that when I see it! I've pined for Cossette since I missed her original release. It has always needed to be a snow white girl so I didn't order the basic of UFK kit. And just now they are offering custom girls in any skin tone for a discounted holiday price. I ordered Cossette girl in milky white resin, with silver bob, light blue eyes, extra fisty hands and sad eyebrows. I was going to add an extra Angelica head and sell my current UFK kit to fund this whole project until I saw the following entry on YJP.
White Angelica #1: bought for a pittance on YJP, just barely over what I would have paid for just the head at angelregion. I am so freaky excited to have her. She's also coming with an extra outfit that belonged to the Glory Angel boys. So this is why I'm selling my Angelica. (new) Lizzie & Cossette will be creole sisters, and will be continually taunted by their snooty french cousin Miette. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Demelza's new body: also from YJP auction, a new FCS body with medium sized boobs. So I'm sellling Demelza's old body that has been cleaned, restrung and sueded for happy posing abilities.
FCS F16 in snow: Due by January 19th. Order placed at the LA Volks store opening with Mikey supervising ^_^ I'm so excited, this experience was beyond belief. I didn't order a Sasha clone, as I don't think she would look enough like Sasha anyways... she's more like a big sister. I attempted to give her some dramatic coloring and brows, very curious to see what volks does with my sketches/instructions. But there is always a chance that I'll wipe it clean and do something totally different. I'm still not entirely clear on her name or personality, I think she'll have to tell me in person. We'll be making a kamikaze trip down to LA as soon as I get notice that she's ready. They would have shipped, but I so want to pick her up in person. What's a seven hour drive for true love, anyways?

So that is it. I am completely inundated with WAITING. Believe it or not, most everything has been paid for by extra work and selling/trading (even if the auctions are still in progress). I've been working extra hard on commissions and extra work to make all this happen and have had very little time to actually PLAY with my dollies. Poor Medora is waiting for a faceup, she's got one eyelash hanging off and can't find a THING to wear with all that makeup on. I've got a commission in to work on so I'll probably do her then.

The amazing thing is I still see new dollies that I covet. I want to stab myself in the eye each time! Shinku and Latidoll (grown up) Lea. OMG.

And then there's a boy... I need a boy. We shall see. Sometime this year I hope to find someone for my girls to pick on. My Artful Dodger... my pale english school boy. My Mr. Cranky Pants.

And don't even mention the outfits I'm trying not to preorder/buy. Ajumapama and Dollheart be damned!

Now, I *thought* the sample SD10 body at the LA FCS boutique had bigger boobs. And this proves it! You can now get the SD10 body w/ small, medium or large boobs. This pic brought to you buy YJP auction I just bin'd! This will be Demelza's new body. So sweet! Can you stand it? Wee apple shaped botticelli's! They actually look like pubescent budding boobage, as opposed to the sweet wee slopers of the SD13. SO CUTE. I ♥ Volks SO MUCH!!! Now to prepare Demelza's Sylvie body for the auction block. Woot! After getting Liz and SD Nana I've been more desperate than ever to update Demelza's older pure skin body, but it wasn't until I saw the different boobtasticness (and bonus FCS hands!) that I freaked and bin'd.

Anyone have pix of the large? Hmmm?

and her default outfit by SerapHStigmA.

Making myself take pictures. It is hard. But I know I will be stabbing myself for wasting light during the work week so must get my picture time in now and wanted to take pictures of the one-off Nana before I put her dress away. I really love her default outfit, the crinoline stands on its own! She has cute little ballet style brown slippers too. and panties... unlike the poor LA LE's. Her wig brushes the floor, it is really lovely.

Miette's panties are grubby. Teehee. They're her original Lilith panties and she's been wearing them since I got her. And they're grubby. She needs a bath.

I miss my kitty so much I'll surely perish. Gah! The littlest things are hard.

Pasty Dolly Directory

| | Comments (1) | TrackBacks (0)

(if you have a better name, I'm taking suggestions!)

Anika and I were just whining that, once again, there are no snow/beauty white dolls at the upcoming Dolpa. Phooey! And then I thought... Kohya was the last LE snow release... and that was a year ago! No snow dollies for 2005 at all! So, in the interest of curiosity I've compiled a list of Volks beauty white and snow releases, thanks to Aimee's fine record keeping and volks' own sites (links listed at the very bottom).

I'm obsessed, and I know Anika feels the same way, with pale dollies. I originally ordered Fifi through FCS because I had to have a pale girl. HAD TO. Don't get me wrong, I do not love my fresh tone girls any less... but pasty girls make me freak out. Completely. My holy grail is LE Sasha (and SD Nana, weeeeeeeeee!), but she is so elusive, and so expensive on the 2nd hand market that I've been patiently waiting for a re-release by Volks. But since there have been THREE editions of Anais since way back when I've given up hope, hence my FCS order I placed in LA. Blah blah blah...

So many of the dates/years I've completely guessed on, so please, if anyone knows for sure the year and Dolpa/Event a doll was released at, let me know! EDIT: Wah! Found a chronological history! Fills in some of the blanks...

Oh! Another EDIT: Does anyone know which LE's use the special sato snow that is more yellow than the new pinkish FCS snow? And if there is a special name for them? Geek on me!

But read on! A rough chronological list of pale, wan, wasting, waxing, pasty dollies!

And that first hunky guy? That is the new SD16. Looks a little harlequin romance there? I dunno, but I love the Emma girl above better.

But no deep, deep love. Thank GAWD!

Funny, first thing this morning I was thinking it was about time they posted the LE's for the December Dolpa, and voila! Cassiel had them posted when I logged into DOA.

And remember, Volks promised at the Reception that they would hold an after party in LA this time. Hopefully online and at the store. Good to see more Yo (super mini) molds! Love the leetle girl.

They can feel it.

Aschenputtel Tatter

| | Comments (7) | TrackBacks (0)

Her name is Aschenputtel! (cinderella in german ^_^) She IS my dream girl. Apologies for the 238473 pictures, and thank you for indulging me.

I discovered, much to my horror, that Nana's face wasn't not sealed w/ Mr. Super Clear. Eeeeeeeeeek! Her blushing is so delicate it totally sent me into a panic. We used Mr. Masking Solution on her lips and shimmery eyeshadow, removed her lashes and sealed her. Whew. I replaced her standard lashes with the new whispy ones, quite an improvement! And painted the inside of her mouth to hilight her wee leetle teeth. She now has light blue eyes as well!

I think these pictures do her makeup much better justice. I am totally stunned by it. Mmmmm!

Must. Learn. Airbrushing. Rawr.

I'm thankful for Aschen Tatter and Volks who brought her to me.

I'm thankful for so many friends who put up with all my silly doll pictures.

I'm thankful for my Uncle who gives me gramma's ancient child's chair for one of my dollies.

I'm grateful for my brother who feeds me gravy.

I'm grateful for Mr. Kallisti who feeds me life, love and eternal happiness.

I'm grateful to my nephews who laugh until they pee.

I'm thankful for the British who make such super television programs.

I'm thankful for so much I can barely comprehend it.

Everytime I sit down to write about it my head is so swirly with all the joy and magic of the weekend that I get all spacey and can't make decent prose to save my life. So forgive me if I go a little purple! I really do feel like Cinderella.

Or, skip right to the pictures... and the important bits! Sweet Dream Nana

I won the one-off I entered for, and a long time coveted dream girl: sweet dream nana! in pure skin snow! OMG! I have actually made several failed attempts to get her previously and it never worked out. You have no idea... she's brilliant. They've updated the sd10 girl body since Sylvie's, two years old now, and it is perfect! Knees and legs click into place and are really lovely... she's in the special limited snow, so she's a bit different than Miette. She GLOWS. I can't even stand it. Her face-up is brilliant! Will have to take better pix later, a bunch included in the gallery linked above though. But her eyes are all pink and smokey with dark dark lashes. I will probably replace the lashes with the new fancy volks lashes and paint her teeth so they show. I love dolls with teeth! Her dress and wig are to die for... the wig is custom cut floor length in a light brown. So lovely.

I don't know her name yet.

I dare you to read the long froofy love fest below.

The last four days have been a dream! We just arrived home (Monday night) and are still unpacking and sifting email.

Oh, the joy. So many friends, new and old. Everybody rocked! Rawr. Even Mr. Kallisti was very sad it was all over and happened so quickly.

So many kisses to all our loves! More after some Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Dear Universe,

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

I'm tired! Lookit what I did today!!! Amazingly it is only 11pm.

I retardedly have to go into work tomorrow to push some flash files to the homepage :p dammint. Hopefully they will be there early early so I can leave. Or I will be severely out of sorts. I so want to get to Torrance before 5pm.

I am very excited about the weekend. Please forgive me if I haven't signed onto many of the extra curricular activities. Despite my demeanor of bubbles, I actually suffer from Mrs. Bennet syndrome and have terrible NERVES that frequently send me scurrying for the chaise and scrabbling for various drowsy potions. I need downtime between all the exciting bits. Heh. Oh yeah, and I also probably have a broken foot bone. SO YEAH. It hurts. Yay me.

I am, however, very excited to put faces to people I already feel close to. And sad for those who aren't gonna be there. Meh.

In other news, lookie! So much happier. I loved this dress but just couldn't do it justice. It looks so HAPPY here. Teehee.

So this is over and out until Tuesday. Thank you to everyone who has bought my crap ^_^ it was so appreciated!!! I got everything shipped except the Rosalia dress, whose kind recipient is being most patient by waiting for tuesday shipping.

By the way, I am bringing all four of my Volks girls. Whether or not all them will ever leave the hotel room at one time is another story, but I couldn't leave any behind! So Fifi & Demelza are snuggled in the CH carrier, Lulu is in the violin case, and wee Miette is curled up in a cute handbag in delicate shades of shell pink fake leather. Mew!

Kiss!

xo,
Kallisti

Soah

| | Comments (2) | TrackBacks (0)

Rhiannon's Soah... definately wins for the most beautiful lip sculpt ever. The gloss on her lips is still wet hear so it appears a tad milky, but will dry clear. Oh! And I'm going to try to pick her up some fancy new Volks lashes this weekend, hence the lashlessness.... weeeeeeeeeee!

Fifi's Closet

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

omg. So the most retarded thing I'm stressing about is Fifi's wardrobe for the reception at the Volks Mansion. Who cares what I wear!

You know what is funny, I was looking through the old folder of aaaaaaaaaall her pictures (my photography has come a LONG way the past two years!) and I actually really like the dress I made for her before she even arrived. I think in the long run I'll remake the bonnet (it is the crap) now that I made a better pattern. But dayum. S'cute.

Still don't know what to put her in... nursey?

nursedoom-018.jpg

Or one of the LE outfits?

Or...? Eeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Can't wait.

Got Zman's stitches out today! She's doing well but she lost some weight :/ a 4lb kitty is scary, when at her pudgiest she was 8lbs! So I've got special food and I have to give her intravenous saline treatments. Scary! But it looked simple enough. My vet is so amazed by her little body. She's alive!

I got home a bit early from the vet. So many dollies, I'm going to spoil you with their loveliness. I need to do another family portrait soon!

Estella

| | Comments (4) | TrackBacks (0)

All done, Dollstown Estella commission! I don't take them very often, but estella was fun. Her strong features totally suited the directions given by her owner which was a gorgeous pic of Keira Knightly with smokey shadow and nude lips. It works really well! And I love the look...

Estella's waist joint poses a problem for blushing as it rubs. Meh.

Click below for nudie shots!

Lulu plays with her toy hearse.

Happy Hallows!

From all my angels, and li'l devils too...

Show off...

| | Comments (3) | TrackBacks (0)

Working on a rare commission this weekend. I loves how she came out.

She's a Dollstown Estella, she still needs eyelashes. Fun! If it doesn't rain tonight I can do the body blushing tomorrow.

Thanks so much to everyone for kitty wishes! Zman is doing really well. She's more sprightly than she's been a long while. I think the pain reliever is helping with her arthritic hips and she's been dashing about in small spurts. Amazing!

Went to see Kamikaze Girls at the Lumiere this afternoon. BEST GIRL MOVIE EVER. Totally loved it. For real. Rawr.

Also ran into fellow LJ buddy Pekochan in the lobby! We'd never met but she recognized me and said "hi" and we all had really nice chats in the lobby. But our meter ran out so we had to go... went to Japan Town for miso ramen and sashimi and spicy tuna handrolls, omg. YUM. Bought more dolly books, duh.

Sigh.

SAVE MONEY, dammint.

Volks really ♥ us!

No kidding. This just in... LA Tenshi no Sumika opening on the 19th (for SD owners list only?) and the 20th for the public.

But check out the LE girls:

liz-la.jpg

anaisu.jpg

madoka.jpg

That is Liz, Anais & Madoka. OMG. In kimono. I was so secretly horrified at the thought that they would do Malibu Dollfie. No snow white girls though? *whimper* Anais & Madoka though... that is hard.

Also, a FAQ:

Q. Will you start the Full Choice System at the opening? A: Yes. Finally, Full Choice System comes to the USA. We do Full Choice System at the opening of the Tenshi-no-Sumika in LA.

YAYAYAY! Planning to order FCS at the opening. I hope.

Eeep. Supposed to be doing chores, but this was too cool to ignore! So. Excited.

This week! At the Lumiere... one week only.

Official Moobie Site. Oh geez. Maybe I'll have to bring one of the girls in one of the dresses, eh?

Miss Medora Bee

| | Comments (10) | TrackBacks (0)

Introducing Miss Medora Bee! Spent last weekend watching BBC costume dramas, one of which being Byron... Medora being a character from "The Corsair", and also the [middle] name of his love child by his half sister. I'd been reading about the women in Byron's life recently and couldn't get the name Medora out of my head. So there we are.

I love her! She's pure snow white! Not a drop of color in her pallid resin. She's also very wee, about 13". Everyone keeps asking when I'm going to wipe her face off. I kinda like it, dammint! It is actually very well and delicately executed. She's my leetle ghost girl. I love her hands, very expressive. She shipped from Korea on Sunday and arrived here Tuesday morn... 'magine that!

Happy Belated, Mia!

(click for larger image, as per usual)

Can't think of a better way to introduce Medora than to wish Mia all the best in the world! ♥! She has a big heart and a glisteny sense of style. Mwah!

And the only excuse I have for the belated is it has been rainy and grey and DARK by the time I get home :/

Snow White

| | Comments (5) | TrackBacks (0)

Look! I finally found the origin of one of my dolly dresses. Only interesting to me really because I've had it since I was little. I think I bought it at a garage sale with my allowance.

It is a dress from a 14" Madame Alexander "Snow White" from the 60's. Aw! Mine is dingy and the sleeves and snaps have been mended by my little uneven baby hands in blues and pinks.

Just so you know, it fits msd & unoa w/ boobs like a dream! ♥

Joann has made a blog-style doll eye database! http://www.silent-r.com/eyes/

Just sent a buttload of beeeyoootiful eye images. Please to send her your eyes.

Also. OMFG. Ajumapama stabbed me with LOVE this morning.

And yowza! Dollheart held a competition earlier this year for designers and they did an amazing job recreating everyone's work. Too much loveliness.

Also, have you ever bid on a BUNCH of YJP auctions with ridiculously low bids hoping to at least scoop up one thing for a bargain and then WON EVERYTHING?!?! Oops. I won 4 auctions this morning and a couple BIN. Celebrating my quarterly bonus is one thing, but I didn't mean to celebrate THAT MUCH! No silly coffin backpack for me.

Stolen from... someone on LJ ^_^!

I'm getting antsy for my Black Melody! Oh boy, oh boy! She's supposed to ship in a week from Dollmore. I love her little fingers, that is what sold me on the sculpt. It is always the fingers. She'll be 13-14"... a bit taller than I originally thought. I really like her extreme dead baby make-up. We'll keep it for awhile... that'll be a first! I wonder if her dress is going to be quality at all? Black is so hard to tell online. Meh. I also ordered 82473 pairs of stockings from Dollmore. Yay! I hate sewing them...

Also, Dollheart has new mix 'n' match for 60cm! I'm waiting for them to get the less casual stuff in stock. Heh. I haven't much liked any of their new dress lines over all lately. Foof.

My first leetle one, white skinned Narsha: Black Melody. 35cm. What can she wear??? Any suggestions helpful!

Ah, the soothing balm of Azone

| | Comments (2)

It is that time again. Azone October collection. Sigh...

Unfortunately, their Halloween outfits always come out IN October, so you'll be lucky to get them on your dolly for the holiday. But this is a particularly cute witchypoo ensemble for 1/6th, Jenny & Momoko sized! I wish'd they do 60cm Halloween outfits. Meh.

But wait! It doesn't stop there...

Cutie dolls, Black Rabbit & Festa Cuore (whatever that means):

That also comes in 60cm! Not to mention some cutie patootie ballet & 23cm (blythe & licca sized) outfits!

My leetle acadian minx. The littlest refugee.

I totally love her. She arrived today after the long weekend. What a treat! And I just stopped crying yesterday o_0

She is an Angel Region / Notdoll Lab Angelica UFK kit! She has the cutest notdoll lab logo relief in her head cap.

The body is very sweet, poses well and stands on her own. The hands are very cute. Well sculpted and balanced. Not quite as fine as Volks but very good indeed. And the resin is a very pale pink. Lighter than I expected, nice surprise! I was afraid they would be rougher than usual, being a kit, but no, the head was ready to go and the body seams were the same as always.

I'm very pleased.

Oh! But I need 16mm eyes, if anyone has nice glass they'd like to sell let me know, I don't have any 16mm.

Oooh! We're back!

So great to meet everyone and see all the gorgeous and much loved dollies.

Click for a whole gallery! A lot more would have made it if I hadn't shot them over exposed :/ Bleh. They're not badly photographed, they're artistic!

Funniest thing, when a very nice gent set up his Hound there was (literally) a collective sigh from all surrounding females (and there were a lot of us). As if hypnotized we all moved a little bit closer and sort of hovered, breathless and in awe. It was as if the resin emanated testosterone, really amazing, and very funny. If you are on the fence about Hound, get off it. Amazing.

Another new crush? Soah... Devon brought his Soah and she is exquisite. She had the most gorgeously painted eyebrows, hands down. Truly looks like the old Japanese doll painting. So in awe.

Thanks to everyone, twas loverly!

Back to School

Heading to the dolly meet on the Berkeley campus. I couldn't decide whom to bring so it is just going to be Lulu & Miette. I was in one of those moods that if I couldn't bring them all I was going to give up going altogether. Crazy lady, me. So I got a grip and am going to make it easier on myself and bring what I can carry. Mr. Kallisti can get the picnic basket. The theme is "back to school," what with the time of year and location and all... but I don't really have that theme down. So we're going somewhat Fragonard today... teehee!

In the mean time, I leave you with the Badly-Photographed-Kitten-O'-the-Week™ picture!

"It's funny, since I got Demezla my fidgety desire for another Super Dollfie has greatly diminished. Demelza and Fifi are my troo loves." —Me

HAHAHAHHAAA!

I mean, Demelza and Fifi are still my troo loves, but I've been rather a slut lately. Mee-ow. Viva la Polydorry!

However, in my defense, it wasn't until Ondine's head arrived in December that the sacred twosome was violated.

Piratica, n. Young adult novel by Tanith Lee.

Leopoldina stole Demelza's outfit! Something I have fantasized about since she was first coveted. She's also wearing an Acquire wig I have cut within an half inch of its life. Worked out well, I think... and Mr. Kallisti made Miette's Golliwog. o_0

And a few vanity head shots, because Lulu so freaky amazing! Agh!

We loves dorry lingerie...

I'm actually leaning towards "Klaus Blixa" teehee!

It's a girl!

At Aug 5, 2005, 2:40 P.M. a Bavarian princess was born. Oh my gawd, she's a Leo! No wonder with that mane of hair and that little cat face. Mew!

I haven't named her yet. Originally she was going to be Parisian, as her bio from Volks states. But she looks so like a 19th century German postcard that I had to throw out my potential name list and start a-fresh.

Did I tell you? Liz has shipped? I can still hardly believe it. She's left Florida. She's on her way. OMG.

Still don't have tales or photos of the weekend sorted out. Too tired and lazy. Drove 238473487 miles in three days, all over Oregon. To buy bacon.

We bought $70 worth of bacon and sausage o_0 My vegetarian friends can be horrified now. But DANG, this sheet is GOOD.

My li'l beetle was a trooper! Boy does she dig those windy Cascades.

But our favorite of the trip was a leetle town called Oakland, Oregon. There are about seven buildings downtown, all built about 1890, and all of them antique shops. Got some cheap loot, yo. Suzy Homemaker oven that lights up and bakes cakes, woot!

Also, I've been to the Pacific Northwest twice. Both times it was 95 degrees +. All that rain and fog they're always talkin' about? They're lying.

Weetzie girl posted about dolly salon, you can see some hot blastmilk action here (nice cleavage shot, woo! Erin, I'm stealing this peekture, mwah!)

Oh, ah! And I have a corset pattern/article in the October issue of Haute Doll. Should be here sooooooon, I hope. Haven't seen it yet though. Eeep! You can subscribe or pick up a copy at Barnes & Noble when it hits shelves, which should be... some time. Thank you to my friends for love and suggestions and proof reading. Kisses!!! Will post more when I've seen the derned thing.

Um, also... Re: Six Feet Under. Spoilers...

I slipped and bought a doll!

Not usually so um, impulsive. But AngelRegion is selling unfinished kits for $200. So I got me an Angelica w/ half closed eyes.

I wish'd they were white skinned, but oh well. 200 smackers! Shee-it. Not even sure I'll like the body. Feelin' crazy. If you'd had the week I'd had you'd be retarded with your money too.

They are shipping at the end of August. LE to 50 kits. Go now.

K, now the rest of the Liz funds is going into cold storage. Yip!

And proof positive you can go thrifting for your dolls! A $2 handmade dress (40's-50's) I picked up in a favorite Martinez antique store two weeks ago. The fabric is SO CUTE! And is a perfect fit.

And look! Miette would like to let you know the dress came with matching panties!

Fifi Mahony v4.0

Poor Fifi, she's been in the head cabinet since Gin arrived. Gin desperately needs a body because I love them both very much! But until I was ready to send Fifi to the Blastmilk spa, she was content to live in the cabinet. Well, more or less.

Funny story. I fully intended to freak out blastmilk readers by giving her a totally different face-up. I see so many gorgeous F13's that I really wanted to try something different. Honest. But clearly she would have none of it. Fifi is completely married to her drag queen gothic persona. I have nothing to do with it.

The details: she's sportin' new Volks lashes, that are just as much the super drag queen lashes as the volks gothic lashes are. Sweet! Also, she finally got her baby pink zoukies. Mew. She would have gotten them as her default FCS eyes if Volks had had them at the time. And, best of all, both her and Ondine are sportin' the fruits of a recent trip to Japan by Erin Fae, who graciously offered to be my happy Volks shopping fairy. These two dresses were bought at Volks, but were probably left overs from a recent dolpa, very handmade... but very cool. Lots of super cute broken english screenprinted, my favorite being "pubic enemy"... teehee! Ondine also got the light brown w1 wig, I love these wigs so much. They are all gorgeous. She also brought me back some super 1/6th clothing etc that I'll be showing off later. YAY.

Big kitty

| | Comments (2)

We weighed Pekoe yesterday. TWENTY-TWO POUNDS OF KITTY. He is one big cat. So fluffy though.

I wanted to finish the peekture projekt this weekend, but had the pms weekend of DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. I couldn't get anything done. However, I did have a few left over that I hadn't posted from last weekend.

Babyjane had requested a close-up of my face-up supplies, and someone else of my work area. Lucky them it was all out as I was redoing Ondine all week.

So. A close-up of the work area mid-face-up. The only thing missing is the piece of paper I scribble chalks on to dab my brushes in for blushing. Here's what it looks like tidy. And then just for kicks a close-up of Oriettacat's Bad Fairy doll in her fairy cage. And a little miracle. My uncle got all excited recently when he was rummaging around in one of his kitchen drawer. He has my grandmother's house, and traditionally the bottom drawer closest to the floor was my toy drawer. Well, he found that little dirty 2" doll way in the back. Still in one of the earliest examples of Kallisti Kouture. Ah, treasures.

And Lyssa wanted to see my ginormous dvd collection. Here's the large chunk of it that is not in storage:

And, as always, there were a few requests of Biscuit. Just to put it in perspective, Biscuit (who is one year old now!) is about 7.5lbs. Pekoe is 22lbs. And Biscuit kicks his ass!

That last one with my favoritest thing in the planet, Mr. Kallisti in a rare appearance. Biscuit is quite the Papa's boy, they love eachother.

So. I'm probably down to dolly pix. A couple people asked for bedtime pix and the girls don't have a bed, and don't really have proper nighties. But I'll come up with something!

Wee update!

| | Comments (3)

I haven't been posting much. Apologies! Work has been super busy, and I'm on a tight budget so there's not a lot of shopping going on.

HOWEVER! I just got the ok from Mr. Kallisti to splurge on THIS:

grommet_setter.jpg
"HOMEPRO" GROMMET/EYELET SETTING TOOL. A heavy duty free standing tool for setting eyelts and grommets. Has a 6" long reach and full adjustment for perfect compression control. Includes setting set for 7/32" (00) eyelet. Accessory die sets available for 3/32" and 1/8".eyelets (AT32)

OMG. I'm so excited! Tiny corset factory. No more hammering and bringing the house down, or squeezing with my tiny hand. Ow.

Also got a pair of S17 eye candies yesterday for Ondine. Made the surprising discovery that they're not actually glass! They're some kind of plastic. Poor Grace didn't even know... she's trying to figure out where the miscommunication was. They are still very lovely. And sparkly. And silvery. And they photograph reasonably well, not at all like mac creative or glastic acrylics (bleh).

Um, what else? Oh! This is the funniest thing ever. I love Mark Morford, our local firebrand columnist. He's awesome. TELL IT LIKE IT IS!!!

Peekture Projekt, Part I

Spent yesterday running around with a camera. Sorry these are not quite in order. I'm too disorganized for that :/ Please click on thumbnails for nice big peektures.

Ondine Alice Mach II

| | Comments (6)

machII05.jpg

A while back I had accidentally rubbed off some of Ondine's face-up. Just her cheek but still, I would have to re-do her. I was never happy with her eyes anyhow, the red pointy bits had been an accident I had to cover up and it didn't suit her much.

So, here she is... I couldn't recreate her eyebrows perfectly so I'm a little distressed. I still like it muchly, but...

Will have to try again? Ugh...

Also shown here with Tiny Alice by Azone. I loves her so much! The dress is a very antique pale blue cotton velvet, with a complete pintucked underdress and pantaloons. She also comes with a Queen Alice crown, cape and sceptor.

Yesterday, I got the worst haircut in the world. The girl who does my hair moved away so I went to a local salon. A BOB AIN'T SO HARD IS IT? Even with curly hair? OMG. There were huge chunks that were sticking out (I say "were" because I cut them out last night), and the back and the sides don't even up. WTF. Indeed.

At first I thought it just had some uneven bits so I was going to go back to have her fix. But it is a completely incompetent haircut, so now I will pay another $2839723 to have someone else fix it. Any east bay girls make a recommendation?

And I wanted to look nice for the DOA dolly picnic tomorrow. Sniff.

Beautiful custom Liz. By SeraphStigma!

Um. OMG. Sasha overload. May the picture gods forgive me for lifting it from this site (please go see to assuage my guilt) but look at all those Sashas!

dp1307.jpg

I am waiting for Sasha. Surely they must re-release her someday. But seriously. If ever anyone wants to sell me a Sasha for under the cost of a new kidney, I'll move heaven and earth. For real.

That is all.

Mmmm. Lemonadedoll.

| | Comments (4)

Look at how cute Nono is in her little panda ears.

lemonadedoll.jpg

Lemonadedoll rocks veritably. But most of all it reminds me how much I love SD classic. The Nana's, Nono's & Mimi's... Maybe an FCS snow Nono classic is in my future, eh? Love her.

And the four sisters. It just doesn't get much better. Honestly, except for a few occasions, I don't think Volks has outdone their original sculpts. They have such spirit and versatility. Sigh.

Where's my Fifi? She needs out of the head cabinet. Meh.

| | Comments (0)

Doll & Hobby still doesn't know when the LE dolls are going to be in and Volks hasn't even told them how many they'll get yet.

I'm afeared it will be with that September thing. I would be very sad. But happy I didn't pay too much! Happy!

Also, I got the msd gothy schoolgirl outfit from Celga and it was missing the black top *mad face!* The auction didn't say anything about it not being the complete outfit and the picture is gone now but I'm sure it was all folded up in the package so you couldn't really tell what was in there. I'm pissed. It is an expensive way to get an outfit and it wasn't even complete. Grrr. I can make it easy enough I'm sure. Also the tie is a real tie. Like I can tie a real tie. I'll have to have Mr. Kallisti tie it for her.

Grumpy. At least I have the little dollheart creepers to go with. I think Miette is going to knock Trinian down for it. Sigh, those girls...

Girls with bloo eyes

| | Comments (4)

See. I have been busy.

After watching the Casanova BBC series all in one day I was inspired. The costuming was very fanciful. Bright jewel tones and sherbet colored froofy dresses. Very 18th century Alice in Wonderland. The pattern is from Dolly Dolly #6. Fantastic, though there are some things I will change, next time. Not sure if I like the ribbon gathering in the skirt. Meh. I giggled when I was picking out the fabric from my bin. Why the heck not! Even sewing with lime green and hot pink thread all day tickled. I need some Louis XVI heels for the girls though. And stockings. I wonder if DollHeart.com takes requests.

Ginevra is wearing a vintage dress w/ matching panties with one of my corsets over the top. Disguises the fact that the dress doesn't really fit over her boobs well! And check out the new dollheart boots. Meow, meow.

Pilgrimage to Los Angeles is in my future...

Volks resin yellowing

| | Comments (7)

[cross posted from DOA because it is tres pertinent]

Fifi got a bath! Or Ginevra... or whoever happens to be inhabiting the body at this time.

So here are my conclusions with resin yellowing:

My Volks old-skin BW was pretty bad off. I've had Fifi for 18 months and just now noticed that she was lookin' a bit pekid. I had re-blushed and coated her about a year ago. And while I think I prefer them uncoated because it doesn't chip etc, there was DEFINATELY a difference between her coated and uncoated parts. Because I'm lazy I hadn't coated her unblushed arms and legs. Her arms were a bit more yellow than her torso. And much more yellow than the newer old-skin beauty white head I put on the body recently (Ginevra).

Mr. Kallisti does all my sanding (who's lucky!?!?) and he really polishes them up good and he still noticed that the sanded seams were more yellow. His theory is that the surface is less porous than the resin beneath, possibly due to vacuum used to remove surface bubbles, and when that hard candy coating is removed it yellows more easily.

We've just now stripped and cleaned her for the first time in a year and she cleaned up really lovely. No sanding, Mr. Kallisti just used a tooth brush & Bon Homie cleanser ( a light abrasive) and Windsor & Newton brush cleaner for the blushed parts. She whitened right up.

Now, my pureskin girl who I've had just over a year still seems really peachy perfect, and her seams have been sanded and she has not been coated (mostly because I am lazy).

So once I can get my hands on some UV MSC I think I will recoat Fifi (old skin bw) sans the blushing, and maybe you won't be able to tell it wears off so much.

In conclusion:

old-skin beauty white w/ NO coating: 1 year=lots of yellowing
sanded parts: dark yellowing
old-skin beauty white w/ MSC coating: 1 year=yellowing, but not very noticeable

Note: displayed in shaded room, non-smoker, played with hard!

Been so busy, with projects, work and family. But caught Demelza looking serene this morning. For kicks I finally tried her on the SD13 body and she looks fantastic! Ondine, however, is not enjoying being stubby. Looks surprisingly ok though.

Never would have thought she'd look so fetching as a blonde. She's also wearing a pair of lovely mauvy purply brown glass eyes I picked up from Gloria on DOA. They're reeeeeally nice!

Also, FINALLY got the volks msd outfit from Kyoto 3. I hadn't seen it anywhere! St. Trinian neeeeds it. Now, I need those creepers.

And yes, that is the only non-Liz thing I've bought since my vow! Go me.

And then there's Biscuit. Just for hoots we put him in the doll carriage the other night, and he sat there for about 10 minutes! His butt just fit in there. Amazing. He was quite happy.

I wish I had known.

I need to keep a better eye on Not Doll & Angelregion. Glory Angel Angelica Girl by Not Doll. Sigh... I love her face. Mew.

This is what I do when I'm waiting the indeterminate amount of time for a dolly to arrive (or not!)... I keep shopping.

Somebody stab me now, please.

I'd like to see more actual pix of Liz. Here's the most flattering pic I've found of her face. Too bad it is decapitated.

I'm in love with her lips. They are so plump! And pensive.

On a side note, Bat and I had a phone interview with a reporter at the NYT this morning. They are doing a blurb on TV shows on DVD and wanted to talk to us about the "I, Claudius Drinking Game." Heh. Not sure we're the "phenomena" she was looking for, but lots of folks have written saying they've played it. Neat.

But seriously, what head mold is the boy? I'm excited because I *think* this is my F14. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

EDIT: Actually, I'm thinking it might be a school B, they are very close! But the school be has slightly chubbier cheeks. In any case, I'm liking both a lot.

Shot in the early morning sun.

The wee wicker chair was sent by my sweet mother in law. So. Cute!

This is a BIG FAT thank you to Kelly! Who took the trouble to pick up a basket full of Volks clothes at Dolpa in Tokyo last week for us kids who couldn't make the journey. Miette is wearing one of the Volks MSD lolita dresses (she got two!). Hard to photograph, being all black, it appears like a big buncha shapeless ruffles. But in person the dress is very structured and fitted. Really gorgeous. I'm impressed.

Kitten dress

| | Comments (3)

Demelza has had this dress for awhile... but for some reason I have a hard time photographing it. Well, I give up. Here's my bad photos of a REALLY CUTE OUTFIT. The ensemble w/ the black wig is much more awesome in person, I can't take her out of it. Kitten dress from YJP. Whoop!

All in white

Saint Trinian, Ginevra & Miette

I got a box, a crate rather, of leeke wigs yesterday. They were a LONG TIME in coming. Some order mixups didn't help. Heh. But I got some shrimp candies for my trouble. Yay!

But the wigs. Oh my. I got a whole crate of milk white and blonde wigs. And one wittle pink wig in braids for Trinian. Would have got more for Miette, but she wasn't even a twinkle in my eye when this order was placed in er... January? Ugh. In any case, I *love* the wigs. They are a finer fiber than the volks wigs, like mermaid hair. I love the milk white, I got three of them. Oops. And Miette is wearing one of the new ankle lenght msd wigs from Volks.

Their outfits are all vintage bits and pieces. Ginevra's overskirt is made out of an old detachable dress collar. I just gently gathered it and added a waist band.

And have I mentioned? I've preordered Liz. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

ohmigawd. ohmigawd.

I just noticed, a moment ago, that only about 2 in 10 auctions for "liz" actually have the doll in hand. The rest are vouchers for future shipment of dolls... in SEPTEMBER. This means that those with dolls in hand are going sky high. I cannot, in good concscience, pay a $400+ markup. UGH.

I bow out. For the nonce. Ok, off to lick my dollie wounds now.

Mmmm. Beautiful.

I can only find two auctions so far for the Dolpa 13 Liz, whereas there were 2384734 auctions for Heath (that handsome stud). She has the new split torso, special sitting legs body!

And she has my nose.

DD... sigh

| | Comments (3)

I ran across her on the japanese side of the Volks site awhile ago, and Armeleia just posted this scan (mew!) from the new Volks Dolpa13 catalog of a new LE beauty white Yashiro Kasumi ver. original goth.

So. Fab. If I were to buy another DD, she would be it. White skin, the new body, gorgeous eyes, wig and the costume is loverly. But I have been placed in a dollie holding pen. Have cancelled all existing orders (yes, ALL of them) and am not even sure if I'm going to try for Liz or not, for which I'd have to have a fire sale to pay for.

We're saving money for bigger, better things. And dollies, as gorgeous as they are, shouldn't get in the way.

So. My hobby pays for itself from now on. The honeymoon is over.

In actuality, all my girls have been paid cash for, and most of the cash has been raised by repurposing other funds or selling stuff. For which I am very proud. Recently it is the constant barage of clothing and accessories that kills me, probably. Ugh! I've got to hit the sewing machine from now on.

Anyone have pix of the ice blue Zoukies #5 in their doll? I'd like to see what they look like for real!

Azone update

Fab releases for May:

23cm (Blythe & Licca sized) flight gear! Agh! Gudrun & Ursula would look awesome in both of these! But at $50+ I'll be lucky to afford one.

And for 60cm: leather flight caps & goggles (in brown and beige)... I have a thing for leather flight caps. But how come they are only releasing the cap? And no cool leather jackets or nothin'.... *pout* so many outfits a nice pair of goggles will look rad with. And might fit Blythe as well? Hrm...

My little sansculotte!

| | Comments (2)

It is a Blastmilk-DDK collaboration! Ha! I wish. The pattern was lifted from DollyBird 4 Dolls Drug Kingdom MSD pattern. It rocks! Really easy to make too. The hat is my own creation. It is, of course, inspired by the "costume" of the sansculottes & military uniforms of the French Revolution. A modern, poopsie, mish mash.

Who am I to talk about Nazis... I have a severed head fetish.

She's not Sasha and I've bought 2384734 dolls in the past few months. But DAMMINT. Damn, damn, damn. The whole package is just scrumptious. And she's French. She's Miette's seeester. She has a nose.

She perfect.

Mr. Kallisti says to just sell Fifi. Blasphemer!

But damn.

Miette hits the beer garden!

| | Comments (2)

My girls are all so very bad! I think Ginevra & Trinian have been having a definate negative influence on Miette. She snuck herself to the beer garden at Zeitgeist Saturday stuffed into my violin case. Imagine my surprise and consternation when I discovered my violin was missing! Tsk.

Miette: Isn't the sun supposed to be bad for me?

Kallisti: Aren't booze and cigarettes supposed to be bad for you?
Miette: Shut up.

Miette: Don't you have any Gitanes?
Kallisti: What are you, Canadian? Ha-ha, you ashed on your new boots.
Miette: Shut up.

Miette: I'm going to steal Tamera's bike and ride off with my gorgeous French lover.
Kallisti: You're nine. Besides, Tamera will stab you.
Miette: :p

Thanks ever so to Kola for not only having a teensy fabulous camera with her, but for sending me the pictures as soon as she got home. Kissy face!

And special thanks to Tamera for stopping by even when she was feeling rather poorly.

Merveilleuse!

My leetle crumb!

Several days went by without the EMS tracking updating, and suddenly I get a call from Mr. Kallisti, who knew I was worried, that a large box had arrived.

Like magic Miette, my msd Lilith, had arrived! Exactly two weeks since the auction was won. I ♥ Celga! Wowie.

Clicky below for more pix & stuff!

The bad mother

| | Comments (2)

Ginevra is a problem girl.

In random vintage pieces. The coat is a pale blue-grey wool, handmade. The ruffled skirt is from a broken boudoir doll I found: the petticoat was the only piece on her original to the doll.

The Gin Drinker

| | Comments (2)

This is Ginevra and she drinks too much gin. Her sleepy eyes are a sure sign of an incurable drunk!

She's my long lost beauty white, old skin modified F05 that we picked up over the holidays. Much love and gratitude to Mr. Kallisti for the modifications on the eyelids. He did an amazing job, and it was a lot of work. This is what she originally looked like.

I ordered a truck load of blonde and white wigs for her, BUT THEY ARE NOT HERE YET. So she'll be premiering this dress again when her wigs arrive, dammint. This is the famed Alice dress by Mijutanyu. I love it too much. I'd been waiting to try it on until Gin was finished, but she still needs the right wig.

I love her. I had to paint her twice, the first time she came out lookin' like a drag queen. And a week and a half went by before I had the time to do her again. Meh.

On another note. I want to purge. I want to go through my house from one end to the other AND THROW EVERYTHING AWAY. Keep the real treasures and get rid of the crap.

I think mass purging and a garage sale are in order. Stay tuned for more selling, but probably of the non-sd nature. Quality instead of quantity. That should be my mantra.

Dear Internet,

| | Comments (4)

Dilemma. I am considering naming a new doll after a doll that, sadly, is no longer with us. While the name in question is more appropriate for the impending arrival, I find it rather macabre to name a fresh youngin' after the dearly departed. Even so, I am inclined to do so against my own better judgement. While, the name is perfect for the little bundle of joy, I am not quite clear on the moral ambiguities and possible unforeseen consequences of such an action.

Please discuss.

Sincerely,
The no longer Bereaved

cutest. picture. ever. the end.

Oh, alright. There's more.

Another Global "Bleuette" outfit! I really like this one too, and I think it is even a better fit. The wig, a wee Global mohair wig is too small! *cry* It is being held on by just the cap. Still so cute. Will see if there is some way to mangle it so it fits.

Props by American Girl. They are rad! The detail is super fab. However, with moving parts and so much detail, things like the camera will break easily so be careful. Also got the night stand and wash set! A little short for SD, still makes a good prop.

Demelza had to try her hand with the stereoscope...

The detail, again, is gorgeous. Brown velvet rim around the mask, punched designs in metal mask casing, all wood parts. The metal is soft, so you have to be careful not to snap off the moving handle. It comes with stereoview cards of national monuments!

Buggy Baby

| | Comments (4)

Fab find of the day... a vintage wicker baby buggy with collapsible canvas top. In perfect working order! Perfect size for St. Trinian or, dare I say, a mini super dollfie! *wink* Also got two gorgeous miniature framed pieces of needlework. You can see one or two in the background of these photos. They are tiny cross stitch silhouettes of 18th century style couple at their writing desks writing. We didn't have a lot of money, and she wanted $50 for the pair. I offered $35, as it was all I had left and told her I knew it wasn't enough. She was very sweet but declined. I got a few stalls down and she came after me and said she could tell I really loved them, if I wanted them at $35 they were mine. I was so shocked, what a gorgeous woman! So sweet. They remind me so much of my grandmother and her things, and her needlework. I will get a better picture of them later.

Other new stuff. Bargain of the week. Got a crate of goods from Audrey's doll supply. In less than a week! They actually had everything in stock. I bought mostly mohair wigs, but this little acrylic one in sausage curls is quite sweet, though at a 6-7 is a bit big for Trinian. But, ta-dah! The Global "bleuette" outfits fit her! I took a stab at it and ordered a couple. This little brown wool suit is FAB. A bit on the wide side, but fits decently all the same. I'm going back and getting the communion outfit.

Trinian is also trying out her new masterpiece eyes. They are a little "bright" for me. I was hoping for something pale, but not so shiney? Dunno. I got the antique pink as well, and those are definately too shiney. Merp.

Ondine Alice loves pushing St. Trinian around. But she had a little accident with the buggy and got a smudge on her cheek. Trying to clean it off rubbed some of her blushing. Sigh... will need to redo her at some point now. If I could just save those eyebrows!

Um. OMG.

Still hasn't sunk in. O. M. G!

Also, just got back from the Alameda Antiques Faire and got some Cool Stuff™. Pix to follow, I'm sure...

I've had no time to paint my F05. Bleh.

BUT, oh man... I ate raw oysters for the first time last night. Went to din-din with lovely friends Morrigan, Meatbear and Crosby of the Forum to "Spenger's Fish Grotto" last night, which is an old Berkeley landmark restaurant my grandmother used to go to. Old fashioned style wood panelled walls covered with giant stuffed fish, guns, and sea farin' gear. Lovely bar too.

Dear Dad,

I ate fried calamari, fresh oysters and a whole Dungeness crab. Are you proud of me yet?

Love,
Me

Honestly, seafood has been a mystery to me my whole life. I have to be brave and adventurous to try new stuff. And oysters, well... they're raw! But they were really good. Tasted like the ocean. There is difference between being fishy, and tasting like the ocean. Wow, that was fun.

But when it's a LE Mini Super Dollfie Lilith, we forgive the yjp snipers who drove the price up 6,000y in the last minute. Meh. At least we are trying very hard to.

Thanks to Mia (♥) I've traded for this gorgeous & poofy Merveilles dress. And look who the model is.

Now, Merveilles is one of my faaavorite dollie designers. It was their gothic french revolution style outfits on a Mimi that made me bring Fifi home as she was in the end. Superb.

This is SO what I'm going for in a MSD. Squeal! I can't believe she's coming home. I've coveted her since pix were first released. She's a mini Kyon girl who looks like Anais! And she will be my first pure skin snow. Meow, meow, meow.

And the actual doll I'm getting. She comes with her Lilith box, (tousled) wig and eyes, but not the original outfit. Here she is looking decidedly NOT snow-skin. Phoo.

The pix just have her tousled wig on crooked and the auction states that "a makeup eye wig slip is the thing of Di Town & Country" & "Since it is merely medieval times, I think that there is some dirt" and that "since there is individual difference in the method of touch, it may be better the direction which can carry out esthetic by itself." Which I take to mean there is some small cosmetic flaw, and/or dirty legs or something, and this should be bought by someone not afraid of customization. Still, I got her for much less than the last one that went on YJP, and considerably less than FCS.

Um, now I have to have a fire sale to pay for her. She's coming home sooner than planned because I became obsessed. I've been coveting all my saleables for future (hopeful) Sasha release or WHATEVER. But such is life. Wah! Please stay tuned...

I finally caved and bought my favorite two BTSSB outfits for Super Dollfie. I waited and kept bidding until I got the bargain I wanted. I can't tell you how beautifully produced these outfits are, they are truly stunning. Mew, mew, mew! Fifi is of course wearing the Dollheart London outfit. All the girls have had it on, it refuses to go back on the shelf. I don't have to tell you how much I really love it...

Click below for tons more pix. Oh, my girls, my girls...

I wish for a snow skin Yuni. Meh. Or some other scary baby type.

I'm obsessed, where are my beastly babies!?!?

Meh. Notdoll Labs has standard Cossette but she ain't snow skin. Yuni is on YJP but she ain't snow skin.

Maybe a mini snow Anais? If I painted her up like a porcelain doll would she go bump in the night!?!?

but I love this seller and their mini Volks store. Eeeeeeeeeeee!

Cute.

Also cute?

From the American Girl collection? Yup. Dolls=scary, concept=fantastic. Scale should be good for 22" dolls and the like. The lamp. I have the EXACT deco lamp on my desk as we speak. Belonged to Mr. Kallisti's gramps. And yes, the dolly lamp works.

Thanks to... someone who posted these on their journal recently! I fergot where I saw the link. Bad me.

disappointed.

I hate admitting miscalculation. But I should have known better.

Volks Zoukies Sax Blue eyes look almost identical to HG Baby Blue.

Lovely, but... gah! *stabs self* I think the auction pix were much paler... That is why I bought them. I thought they were nearly a clear blue. I should have checked the faq first, and I would have seen they were bright, light blue. UGH.

MSDFCS-S5-GE25.jpg

Also, followup on the Volks store opening: Tiki brought up a good point that I am also very concerned about. Having a rabid internet fan base of thousands does not always translate to successful flag ship store in LA.

I desperately am hoping they hire some serious U.S. MBA style ninjas. Even if they keep it boutiquey. They need to make sure it is successful.

And then open a sister store in San Francisco. And hire me.

In the mean time, who else is planning to be there for the opening?

The last to know

| | Comments (1)

Because I was in Tahoe for the weekend (we forgot our memory card for the camera, so please to clicky on the Marquis to see beeyootiful snow peektures)...

Aimee announced it all official like: Volks is opening a store in LA.

HOT DAMN. Some place I can actually get to. So. Excited. It is all over now. Everyone, send your condolences to Mr. Kallisti. He is gonna cry.

The trip: Ohmigosh, best time ever. I miss Toddums sew much I constanly wonder why we are three THOUSAND miles apart. Alas, he is in beautiful New Orleans, and I am stuck in overpriced, overpaid, 365 gorgeous days a year norcali. le sigh.

But the snow. THE SNOW! It snowed all weekend. Big. Fluffy. Snow. Besides the scintillating company (kiss, kiss!) we had lots of grand junk shopping. Day trip to Reno! More pictures later.

And Ondine had her first road trip. I so wanted her to meet le Marquis. She was such a pretty girl sitting on my nightstand every night.

I'm leaving for the weekend...

Um, Aquarius avalanche.

| | Comments (0)

Probably because I was terribly remiss in creating profiles for my recent additions, I didn't realize that 3 out of my 4 bjd's are Aquarius'!

Fifi: January 20th
St. Trinian: January 23rd
Ondine Alice: February 13th

I'm just now figgering this out because... I've written up their profiles! Pretty basic, but cute. Meh.

Ondine Alice a la Sauvage

| | Comments (4)

There's nothin' like a new pair of boots from Dollheart.com to use an excuse for a new photoshoot. Dreamy! Ondine wears her new brown ribbon boots with the dress from Volks made for Anais II. The wig is another one of Volks' brilliant new wigs, in a wavey auburn (Volks calls it "copper" but they lie). Again, I am totally in love with the new Volks wigs, they are gorgeous. The texture is soft and lively, very sauvage. I'd definately buy this in other colors. Mmmmm.

More? Of course, and another thrown in of Ondine in her "Romance of London" outfit, which she was loathe to change out of.

la Salon de Poupées

The loverly Fifi Mahony in the outfit by Imai I got from Aimee. Eeeeeee! And this wig. Volks W-02 in BLACK. I'd been trying to get it for AGES. Such gorgeous texture, heavy and swingy. Lurve it muchly.

But wait! What is this? Mr. Kallisti rides again! [queue Bonanza theme]

It's a large BJD photo stage! Collapsible (if a bit heavy), stores flat, and tres easy for scene changes!

It is just a large piece of plywood. A bit on the heavy side because we happened to have a large piece of thick plywood on hand. It has a lip around the backend to keep the walls from sliding off the back. The back L shaped wall is hinged at the corner, and then upholstered with cream colored felt. The bottom is covered with dark brown felt to keep it from scratching the 1925 Victrola Granada Phonograph the whole contraption is resting on. And the floor is a thin piece of black board covered with checkered shelf paper. This can be changed at will. The back is then covered with random fabric, in this case muslin on the back wall and mauve velvet on the side. The set dressings are hung on push pins with the plastic bit ripped off so the fabric can be changed and stuff rehung with ease. It all folds up and tucks behind a large desk, or can stay out as a permanent doll room. Which it is likely to in this case.

I married a genius. And a very understanding man.

Gack! Literally...

So. I just got my new Volks catalog today (thanks to the slow boat from Japan).

I'm flipping, flipping, flipping. So cool. I love the section with all the new FCS heads. I get to the very end of the SD girls and I'm struck silly. It is Fifi's sister! For real.

It looks like Fifi, except with nostrils and larger lips. Mr. Kallisti says "Buy Fifi a new head. Um, she's going to kill me in the middle of the night, isn't she."

It's the new FCS 14 head. I hadn't seen any pictures of it. On the FCS FAQ Aimee has a note that says "some say it looks like SD Aya" but no picture. She looks like what the SD13 Mimi should have looked like.

I never, EVER thought I would consider trading up on Fifi, I love her old skin bw body, the old sd13 poses so well.

But it is her. I can totally see her as an F14. Mmmm. Pure skin snow.

Am I crazy? Does that freak you all out? It is freaking me a bit. Partly the idea of someone else owning my Fifi! Tell me what you think. And for sure, if anyone has pictures of the new F14, do share!

k, it doesn't help that she is wearing a polky dot dress that is vaguely reminiscent of the first dress I made for Fifi. Even though she hated it.

for Aimee!

And her loverly Volks Project:

Dear Volks,

Musume sunshine,
my only sunshine.
She makes me happy
when skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear
how much I love her.
O, please don't take
my Volks dolls away.

Just got my dollheart.com "Romance of London" girl outfit. Oh. My. Gawd. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. The pictures don't even do it justice. The skirt is so froofy and such a gorgeous soft, crinkly fabric. All zippers and buttons. The coat has real buttons & button holes up the front. I love the detail. Pix to come, I'm sure...

You see, there was this dress on YJP that I bid on and lost a couple weeks ago. I was pretty heartbroken. So much so that I went and bid on one of the Baby, The Stars Shine Bright outfits I'd been coveting since last summer.

Then late last night I was clicking and Lo! The same person who had outbid me on the auction was reselling the same dress. With a "buy it now" of exactly what they had paid for it. I got all wiggly as I hastily emailed celga to buy it for me and went to bed. Woke up to find I'd won it and am ecstatic!

Ondine Alice is a hybrid. She's a Hypermaniac Ksy head on a Volks SD13 Jun body. The original hyperdolly Ksy is a bit taller and stronger build than Volks SD13's. So I think the general consensus was that her head would be giant in comparison to Volks. Which isn't the case at all! At 9" she's actually smaller than Volks' classic SD like Mimi (my Fifi). Fifi's wigs swim on Ondine's head! She looks much younger on the more petite sd13 (compared to the Ksy body), but not out of proportion at all. Hyperdolly's coloring is a bit pinker than Volks' pale peach. But the hue is similar so a little bit of blushing about the neck and fingers will render it more or less irrelevent.

I just got the SD13 body today! First time for me to play with the new body and it is FAB. Everything locks into place and she poses fantistically, unlike Demelza.

I had a real hard time dressing her. She's wearing Cyndy's dress and a pair of bloomers I made. I absolutely love Volks' new shaggy cut wigs. The texture is amazing and suits her so well. She's wearing a pair of my 20mm AR eyes, which are a bit big for her and make her all dewy-eyed. I'm eagerly awaiting some 18mm eyes that should suit her better.

Thanks again SO much to Mia for the opportunity to own this head, which otherwise wouldn't have been possible as she's been discontinued. Mwah!!!

Oh! I almost forgot! The tiny doll in the case was my grandmother's. It was one of the items I got right after she passed away. Just about 3" tall, she's got the eggshell complexion and real hair and silk costume. It is a bit mussed because I remember filching it when I was five and taking it out and playing with it. Oops! It is such a treasure to me... I just recently uncovered it in some of my things and brought it out to play. Mr. Kallisti fixed the case with my grandmother had glued together with masking tape on all the edges. Eeeep! My father brought this and other dolls from Asia home for my grandmother when he was in the Korean war in the 50's. Treasures all of them.

And the miniature antique coffee grinder was also my grandmothers. I used to play with it when I was little and grind crackers in it. All day. Grinding crackers. There are still crumbs in the little drawer. The plastic baby my uncle found in one of my grandmother's little wall pockets. He says it has been in there for thirty years since I dropped it in there last.

Ondine is grinding my baby.

p.s. I'm going out of town for a mini vacation. Weeeeeeee! Suite at the Peppermill. I'm going to spend the next two days bathing and eating crab.

Broke down and bid on Baby the Stars Shine Bright black dress set sans shoes and won for less than my max bid. It was a "bargain"... whatever that is when buying expensive designer dolly clothes.
why are doll eyes so expensive? I am in a quandary, need 12mm & 18mm eyes. I want Antique Rose but that is a bust. I don't like how masterpiece looks but might be ok for tiny Unoa face? I dunno... sigh. So stuck.
feel anxious and fugly today.

I saw this postcard on their site around winter and have been waiting for it to be released ever since. Absolutely completely SO made for me and my girls. I haven't bought one of their dresses yet. Gorgeous but never *quite* my thing. These. Meow.

I was going to buy the boy set for some boy I hope I will have someday but they are ALL sold out already (!?!?!?) and I think I got the last girl one. Click the postcard pic above to see the detail shots, they come with their leetle shoes as well. I'm so excited!

If anyone bought the boy outfit and is having second thoughts, LET ME KNOW!

EDIT: They only sold 6 of the boy and 4 of the girl on ebay last night and there is supposed to be an edition of 20 for each. I will calm down now.

Now that I'm feeling better, we've had a whirlwind weekend. Started Friday evening with a trip to El Cerrito's little Japantown at the Jay Vee strip mall. Katana-ya is the most awesome ramen/sushi place in the area. If you go too late on ANY night it is packed beyond belief. We ordered Snow Crab Shabu Shabu to split and a mess o' sushi. We brought the camera in but realized halfway through the meal that we'd forgotten to snap. Oh well, so you get the mess we made. It was, to say the least, amazing. I love food you have to crack and pull apart and pick at to eat. So fun! I call it little Japantown because in the same wee strip mall (that has been here since I was a baby) there is a Japanese food market, where we got cleaning sponges like Volks sells, and Re-ment, and little chocolate burger crackers. And there is also a Japanese dollar store next door where we bought more crap. El Cerrito rocks.

Went to the farmer's market with my brother early Saturday, got lots of fancy meats and veggies and ate like true aging hippies last night with our dandelion greens and crepinettes. Mew!

The weather has been GORGEOUS so we headed out for Martinez since we had some pennies burning holes in our pockets. Mr. Kallisti picked up a beauty. A circa 1940's Diana-F plastic camera bought for a mere pittance. Very cool, mang.

I found a boudoir doll (1920's) that I am thinking on. GORGEOUS as well. Had to research before I dropped the dosh. I can't find anything like her online or in my books. She is smaller, probably under 20"? German made with very petite composition features, hands and legs all in peach silk that looks original. And mohair marcelle waves. I um, have to have her. So I will be emptying my coin jars and maybe selling some other stuff to assuage the guilt. She's not that expensive, honest... but I am spoiled and need to justify my purchases to myself.

On the way back to the car we stopped into a shop we'd been in last winter where we had coveted a petite uranium glass apothecary jar. The woman had just got it in but hadn't priced it yet. It had a chip in the lip so she knew it would be under value but even the ballpark was more than our comfort zone. Well. It was still there! The lady wasn't there, but the owner was. And the price was a under what her previous estimate had been and he knocked off an additional 10%. Pristine, this jar is worth a lot of money. I don't spend that kind of money on collectibles usually, so a lot of the stuff I have has tiny flaws. Which is fine by me. I love the loot for itself not its value really. And this piece is gorgeous.

Mid to late 19th century, hand painted label uranium glass Valerian apothecary jar. It of course glows under black light.

And last but not least, I got Aimee's outfit by Imai. I am so happy to own this! I love the outrageous take on traditional Japanese couture. I'll do a better photo shoot with all the girls in Japanese garb, but Demelza looked so fab, and she was already wearing the neosium zouk eyes too.

Sorry for the wrinkly backdrop. I'm lazy and I suck. And I'm late to go spend the rest of my glorious weekend moving my mother into a new apartment. Eeep!

I swear, I only own like three pairs of shoes for myself. But I cannot resist the dolly shoes! This time it is Dollheart.com. Sigh.

I ordered one of their wigs too. Had to stop myself from ordering three. Eeep!

Fifi Mahony Mach II

| | Comments (8)

In case anyone forgets Fifi is the star around here... she's back to remind you.

sailorgirl03.jpg

While doing up Nicneven last weekend, I suddenly had the BRIIIILLIANT idea of re-doing Fifi. I'd had issues with her face-up since the beginning, but the fabu volks lashes totally made me forget whatever problems I had had with her. Almost.

I wanted to paint lower lashes proper like, goshdernit. The trick is a proper uber fine liner brush. Yup. Still, I sealed, painted, and wiped her FOUR TIMES last weekend. Mr. Kallisti, BA in art and all, gave me a hand, bless 'im. Finally I just went to town on her and kept it. A bit heavier than I intended, but I wasn't going to bed leaving Fifi with a blank face, heaven forefend! I left it for two days, thinking I'd wipe it right off. Then I thought I'd just live with it for awhile. I sealed it and dressed her, stood her on her perch. And hated it. Totally loathed it. For about four hours.

And suddenly, it began growing on me. I think part of it is the shock of seeing her differently. After a week, she's Fifi again, but at first... yipes! I wanted to scrape it off with a knife.

She needs another coat of red and gloss on her lips. I didn't think I was keeping the face so I didn't really finish them. That will be next. My favorite part is actually the eyebrows. I'm improving. They are pale and wispy and EVEN. Mmmmm.

For the nonce, she's keeping her starlet look. Until I get cocky again.

Fantastic Sailor Girl outfit by Cheerydoll. Beautifully made, all seams finished in a lovely fashion. Also tailored for the slender SD13 figure. What a treat!

*fists in the air*

I just won Jun's body off of YJP for Ondine. I've been bidding for a month, hoping I'd eventually get one for my price.

Very. Exciting.

I did a face touch-up for Melissa's Nicneven this weekend. The original face-up was so beautiful I thought enhancing and smoldering up her inherent qualities would do better than completely wiping her clean.

And her previous body blush had faultered when her nipples rubbed off! Eep! So she's got super hard candy coated nipples now. I'll be flabbergasted if they pop off this time!

Oops. I've totally been remiss in paying the fuck attention. Apparently there is a meetup in Japantown this Saturday. Anyone I know (or "know") going?

Peep!

Ack! I'm totally allergic to the Volks cleaning sponge. Anybody else cough like mad when using it? I thought it was the Volks cleaning spray, but then I started buffing without it and *hack* I'm dying!

Today is Dolly Day. Redoing Miss Nicneven's face, and giving her body a good buff (and repainting her nipples, they're so perky they rubbed right off! have to get that girl some protective pasties).

We're also going to suede Demelza (finally!). As cute as the pure skin sd10 body is, she's floppy and doesn't sit up. Poop!

Also... starting on the F05 customization project. Mr. Kallisti is taking a mold of her first. He also customized a dremel tool into a sanding ball to gouge out the back of her eye sockets. He so smart.

Made a nifty discovery. I noticed this with Miette too, that the optional head beauty white is a little bit whiter than my FCS beauty white Fifi . As it turns out, the brand new F05 head matches the white Lishe body almost exactly. I didn't really think the F05 head would ever be her own doll, but if I really like her I know I can get a Cerebus Project body and it will match fairly well. Mew.

Oh, and we totally went in search of Bigfoot yesterday. I bet you thought I was kidding. More on that later... I just don't want to waste daylight documenting the saga :P

Also, I'm beginning to come around to the idea of a FCS F16 pure skin snow Sasha. I've seen a couple lately who are totally chic. But Volks might surprise me by re-releasing her this year. *dreams*

I've got a pair of Volks white lashes winging their way to me already. Thanks Sandi! Woo!

Now, there was a Japanese customizer who had a page on opening up the F05's eyes. Does anyone have it bookmarked? I can't find mine! And it was very handy. I'll crosspost this one to DOA.

Thanks! Kiss-kiss!

I need white eyelashes!

Super Dollfie size preferably. The only ones I can find doll wise are from Customhouse, I could pad an order with wigs to get them (more wigs! ha!) but that seems expensive.

Any suggestions? And no light blonde either! I need white! I'm hitting the drag queen supply this weekend. Lor' he'p me, I can never resist the pettipants and petticoats in those damn places.

*flounce*

P.S. Also, I've been meaning to mention this. One of the last packages of lashes I got from Volks, and they are Volks brand, are human sized! WTF!?!?! Isn't that weird? Also, I just remembered the Soul Within group order. I'll try that too!

Glamour pusses.

I have thirty doll wigs. THIRTY! And seven of them are pink.

I feel like such a wig-ho.

How do you store your wigs? I keep as much original packaging as possible and store them flat in a large drawer. The lose wigs with nothing but hairnets all go in smaller boxes where they won't get squashed by the big Volks wig boxes.
