Asian Ball-joint Dolls: 2003 Archives

Doot-di-doo.

*whistling* Waitin' for a super dollfie. Hum-di-ho.

So Mr. Kallisti made me a wig stand for restyling! A ball on a stick with a heavy weighted base. I just glued strips of felt to it so I could pin the wig down and voila! I've restyled a poshdolls.com wig. These are new volume waffley wigs from Elaine. Awesome but a bit unruly. There were some bits that were pure frizz. And the ends were pretty unruly.

Luckily my hair is EXACTLY THE SAME, so I knew what to do. Get a spray bottle, and some anti frizz gel and a pair of scissors and go. to. work. I cut nearly a pound of hair out of it (not really, but a great big whoppin' handful). You just take little bits of hair and smooth them out with the gel and they make the nice seperated curls. I cut the bangs too. Will probably trim again once I get the darn thing on a doll.

Circus! Circus! Lolita! SD Couture!

Two things.

1) Drove by a pet store and noticed hot pink velvet & zebra striped chez lounges for dogs in the window. Went back the next day to check the price as the ones online we'd been looking at were in the $300-$400 range. The lounges were only (!) $99, but they did have this darling purple sofa for considerably less. I died. Died so much I went back the *next* day and bought it. I have another leopard print chair on the way too. Sigh.

2) Spent the weekend sewing. Came up with a nice mix-and-match set (there will be more) of two bloomers and a bonnet in Super Dollfie size. The bloomer pattern I drafted myself, the bonnet pattern I adapted from reprinted antique doll patterns. Very tricky! I used Pullip as a model, her head should be a similar size. It is much more pink than in these pictures. The ruffley pantaloons are magenta, and the Baskin Robbins ones are magenta and pink. I love this combo! I think I'll call it the "Circus Circus Lolita" set. For obvious reasons.

so pretty.

As seen on a Yahoo Japan auction. Mimi is my favorite.

I know why I love this outfit so much. It has elements of French Revolution costume about it. The hat, badge and breast banner... as well as the company name are all evocative of revolutionary emblems. I *heart*...

I have a secret...

What I'm really doing here is saving up for a Super Dollfie.

I first discovered (like I was the first, peh!) dollfie & volks last fall when I was spooky doll searching on ebay and came across several gothic lolita outfits by Nideru on, I believe, a Nana SD with white hair. I was stunned. The more I looked the more I began to hyperventilate. Searches promptly confirmed that they were much larger than I originally thought, anatomically correct (which I love) and waaaay out of my price range. Not to mention the fact that I was embarking on a freshy fresh relationship that might take some work getting him to understand that I *needed* a $600 doll.

Which was fine, because I couldn't even reconcile myself to the price (until recently, of course)... imagine my relief when I found the 1/6th dollfies! Joy!

So, while I save my pennies (one penny at a time) I have lots of affordable li'l lovelies to create. One needs a hobby. Japanese goth fashion dolls seemed like a good one for meeee!

So anyways, now that I've explained all that, you won't be surprised when I post things like... THIS!

Azone is showing this here on a 60cm obitsu with Sahra head. So cute! And imagine how much better looking on the Super Dollfie (not a huge fan of the 60cm obitsu bodies esthetically). Is it so wrong if I shop before I actually get the doll? The problem is that these items are sooo limited, frequently you can't get them after the first month or two.
