Japanese Figures: 2006 Archives

And then... while shopping Mr. Kallisti's winter PS2 collection, I saw this on the shelf.

Ok, I don't play many video games. Really... I've gotten like three in the past couple years. Katamari Damacy, Fatal Frame, Katamari Damacy II, and Fatal Frame II. So that's four, but you get the point.

This looks a lot like Fatal Frame, except in 1930's England. With creepy mean girls AND zombies. Awesome. Reviews are full of accolades for atmosphere, music and design, and not so much for killing things and gameplay. Sounds perfect to me. I want to wander around and get creeped out. Oh, and I think you get to touch big creepy spiders.

So, I'm going to try it. At the exhorbitant, just released price too. Because I'm crazy that way, this'll be my game for the year. If anyone has played, let me know what you thought!

Here's the Official Site, but the Japanese version has more movie clips.

Shopping, shopping, shopping

Not our intention to have a big shopping weekend, but it was!

A weekend's worth of loot!

Re-ment love

I've stopped myself from ordering fullsets of re-ment the past year. Too many crates of awesome little things. They really add up.

But I preordered these two sets sight unseen. Hey, anything called Dish in Fairyland or Retro Appliances I'm pretty sure I'm gonna need. HLJ.com just posted peektures! The mushroom kitchen set! The green pushbutton phone! The thermos! The alice tea set! Agh!

And check out from the Re-Ment site, they had a contest for storage!

Also, just heard from Helina that this set is shipping:

*bounce!* I'll have to do a diorama with these two using the fairyland sets.

I took an extra day off to dress dollies for the Tea this weekend. Holy cow!

Sure is fun, though. We leave early tomorrow. Vroooooooooooooooooooooooooooom!

Mr. Kallisti just got the biggest box ever from Rinkya o_0 ... it is Kaiju Kristmas at House of Blastmilk! But among the oodles of vinyl there was this (not necessarily work safe):

Just sayin'. *falls over laughing*

K, two more dollies to dress. And some errands to run. If I don't post again... see ya'll in LA!

Rune Naito kimono girls!

Available from HLJ.com

And thanks to Talya (and others) who explained the deal with SARS girl!

The one with the long skirt and the dust mask is a "Yankee," a gangster girl - they wore extra-long skirts to hide the bruises from fighting and dust masks to be nominally unrecognizable, IIRC.

I am muy ignorant! Now on to the rest of the line-up...

Spooky alert!

Only three months to Halloween! Azone is ready... With, get this, the best doll name evar: Chocoholic Nightmare PureNeemo!

See what else is new! But what is up with SARS girl?

Cute 60cm froofy rompers!

Mr. Kallisti: Why'd the picture all come out so funny and washed out?
Me: Because it is July in San Francisco and it is cold and grey outside.

We spent the 2nd in the other China Town: Clement Street. But first stop was Bill's Place on Clement & 24th. Yarm! Perfect example of the greasy spoon with yummy food. Their french fries are to die for.

Paul came up this last week for his show of custom painted vinyl at Super 7 (please to buy). Went to the opening friday and had a blastorama! Lots of friends, beer & plastic monsters. I fell in love with a red glitter godzilla and Mr. Kallisti promptly smacked it on the counter and brought him home for me, along with 2347834 beasties. Yay beasties! I could decorate an entire room w/ this godzilla as the centerpiece. He's just that fabulous.

Quote from Gina on TIB:

the cat is finally out of the bag! this is the gorgeous new girl that i`m introducing this week. she is indeed a collaboration with christina/jam fancy. i`m previewing the prototypes at an event in tokyo tomorrow and will be able to offer the first girl for sale in *hopefully* a few months. thanks for looking!!

I'm serious. Just sign me up. I'm such the huge JamFancy fangirl. And no one deserves it more than Christina. I'd buy everything she sells except half the time I don't get there in time to put my dibs in!

My bad fairy. Rawr.

Also, we'll be at the Super7 show for Paul Kaiju tonight in the city. BE THERE OR BE... not there.
