My wittle kitchen bitch...

| | Comments (7)

I'm all flubbergusted with glee!

Secret Santa was good to me this year! Melissa! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! She sent the most awesome Blythe dress ever. I can't even begin to describe. I'll just show you 2389743 pictures instead. And the best excuse to debut la Casa Formica's kitchen. Still in need of base boards and crown molding, but crikey! I can't wait forever...

How'd that happen?

| | Comments (1)

Suddenly I have FIVE BLYTHES!?!?!

Today is my only day to take pictures with daylight, so I'm trying to squeeze them all in. Here's a few of the girls!

In the back are Calliope wearing Mitten's pink coat and hat outfit, Thistle wearing a Christmas surprise present from Miss Christina, and Polly Styrene wearing her new bunny woolies by Pink Gun. In front are Gudrun in Mitten's slavic princess outfit, and Marzanna, mitten herself! Oh, and wee pinky doodle petite Blythe in the Dolly Bird special outfit on her vintage Petite Princess lounge.

Mitten!

| | Comments (1)

It is a Slavic wonderland around here!

I love her so much. Gudrun is wearing her other outfit. It is the best! It's got a little petticoat and bloomer panties! And all the ribbon has little mittens and mitten puppies. And she has a whole 'nuther pink fur coat set with cape & hat, and she's wearing this cute li'l orange ensemble under her blue coat. Best dressed ever!

Mitten was my "whoopie, I got a job!" present to myself. I was a bit hesitant to love her because of the price (for non-Blythe people, she's a limited release and therefore cost a bit more than the regular releases). But she's so fab, and very compelling. Can't wait to spray her face! And I've got some special eyechips waiting for her. Yes.

The Emperor Norton Bridge

emp.jpg

It just might have a chance! The SF supes have surprisingly approved the bid to rename the Bay Bridge "The Emperor Norton Bridge"...

[Read the article]

Now they just have to get Oakland to approve. Do they have any sense of humor or history? Sheesh.

For those who don't know, Emperor Norton is a beloved SF eccentric who declared himself "Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico" in the nineteenth century. He was humored by citizens and government alike, and famously minted his own money and issued a series of proclamations.

On a sidenote: I deboxed Mitten last night. Ohmigosh. MITTEN! She is so much more than I expected. I, um... brought her into the office with me this morning. Eeep! She's sitting on my monitor in her blue coat and cap.

Gudrun appropriated the slavic costume and looks FAB in it. I'll have to take group shots this weekend.

So. I weeded out five crates of books last night to sell or take to the free book exchange at the El Cerrito recycle center. It got rid of all the books stuffed into crevasses and left a few nice wholes for expansion.

If we can swing it we might box up a bunch and put them in storage in the garage. If I can bear it.

But I found something Mr. Kallisti brought back for me from one of his many trips to the free book exchange! It is an early 70's crochet magazine, I'm assuming it is Japanese. But he brought it home because of the doll on the back cover:

And one of the fab pix inside:

Now, where are my Oshare dolls? They were supposed to be released in November. *sniff*

Gudrun gets kallistification

| | Comments (5)
clover01.jpg She's been spray matted with Mr. Super Clear, eyelids painted a glowey moss green, brown beauty mark painted to match mine, and her eyechips changed out. And that is it. I love her so much I made her another wee dress. Oh, and Mr. Kallisti painted her glasses to look like mine. Sweet!

Real pictures of Mitten

Are showing up on YJP!

Which means she should be here soon. Sigh!

It was the craziest thing...

| | Comments (3)

Mr. Kallisti and I were hacking into poor Gudrun so I could gussy her up, AND SHE HAD NO GLUE ON HER SCALP! Just a wee spot along the back of the flange. The rest popped right out. No glue holding the scalp down over the dome either.

I feel so blessed. Mr. Kallisti dreads the descalping, but he's very nice to do it for me.

puchidresses01.jpg

My GG Gudrun came last week! I haven't posted her in her super cute default outfit because everyone else has. So I spent the day of rest sewing wee Puchi dress patterns from Melissa. These are, I'm rather ashamed to say, my first Blythe dresses! And each one took about an hour to make. Now that is fun. Gudrun's autumn fashion is made out of an old, old hanky. I love hankies!

I absolutely adore Groovy Groove. Her hair is lucious after a shampoo, and her mushroomy outfits are to die for. She needs some custom work, prolly just eyeshadow and matte... and she reminds me very much of the custom I did for the other Melissa of Clover. Perhaps I should add freckles! Heee.

Clicky below for oodles of peektures.

Uh oh.

Smitten by Mitten.

main_img.jpg

She's the only limited that has pulled my heart strings so far. I'm in love with all her li'l folky outfits, and I don't even think I would customize her aside from matting! Amazing!

photo01.jpg

But it was this wee in box picture from TIB posted by "My Blythe" that clinched it. She's lovely.

Why do I always buy Blythe's in twos?

Cute.

| | Comments (3)

fanatica.jpg

Pullip Fanatica! I wish'd I liked Pullips more. They are so cute, I like their faces... but I think it is their bodies. I don't know. Pocky, my Pullip, is a shelf sitter and it makes me sad. And I wanted Principessa so bad, but again I am afraid of the languishing doll syndrome.

Now, to Groovy Groove or Not to Groove. With Thistle here I almost don't want another doll, but GG is so perfect and I will name her Gudrun. Perhaps I could get her and leave her boxed until I need to either play or sell.

I might change her blush, it seems a bit too orange in some of the actual in box pictures. But I want to see more of her!

Sigh.

I think I'd name her...

040916_groovy06.jpg Gudrun

She does look like a Gudrun, doesn't she.

If I get a job and pay all my bills I can have her. And name her Gudrun. And then get two more Blythes and name them Ursula and Hermione and then I'd have all the girls from D.H. Lawrence's novel "Women in Love" and I would be ever so happy.

They could run naked through fields of daisies having euphemistical orgasms.

But then I'd always have to explain that I wasn't stealing the name "Hermione" from frickin' Harry Potter, blast that book, but from Lawrence's book but even MORE specifically on the character as played by the hilarious Eleanor Bron in Ken Russell's film "Women in Love." One of the funniest female archetypes ever.

I do need a doll named Hermione, to hell with Harry Potter.

eleanorbron02.jpg Gudrun, Ursula, Hermione (oh, and some guys who do a damn good job wrestling naked in front of a fire)

Someone please tell me why I do not have "Women in Love" on dvd yet!?!?!

Edit: Amazon had it new from a vendor for $7.50. It is mine. Damn ye gods!

We should have an Eleanor Bron film fest. With films like:

Women in Love
Help!
Bedazzled
AbFab ("Be free my little void!")

Blythe! Across the street!

| | Comments (1)

Went to the Pacific East Mall across the street to find big plastic flowers for Fifi's hair (more on that later) and the asian bookstore has ILYIT Blythe! For $100!

Anyone local who wants her, they had like six of them on the shelf. Pretty cool. Here's to hoping they get more in the future, eh!

We also ate at a new restaurant that just opened, of Macau food! Neato! I really, really wish I was more adventurous in the food department. The Pacific East restaurants aren't your typical namby pamby asian restaurants we white folks usually go to. These places are hardcore, and most of the dishes are heads, lips and organ meats. Heh. My uncle would have ate it all!

[Vegetarians can stop reading here]

We by-passed the pork intestine salad and had crispy roasted pork instead. Awesome! Little cubes of pork goodness with the skin still on and all salty and crunchy. We had shrimp dumpling soup that had whole fresh shrimp in the dumplings. Yum, and had some rice noodles that were tossed with bean sprouts and shrimp and chicken and yumminess. And then, oh boy, salty, spicey fried chicken wings. I am a huge fan of the wing, and these were GOOD.

Yay for Macau food! Even if there's only five items on the menu that don't make my knees quiver. So good.

I want to watch someone eat a fish maw someday. Really.

*phew!*

Originally a Pow Wow. Melissa brought her to me with her hair already cut, and half of her eyechips foiled. I matted her w/ Mr. Super Clear, used emerald to tone down her eyeshadow, enhanced her blush, painted on freckles, and gave her deep russet lips. Oh, and she has bright pearly frosty green eyeliner that is very striking!

It was a long and strenuous haul, but look at these girls! Commissioned by Melissa, who has the good fortune to live five minutes from me. And the project was saved by another Melissa (of Puchimadam.com) when we boiled the eyelid stalk (instead of soaking in warm water) and warped them beyond repair. So I donated by unfinished frupu's lids and sent them off to Puchimadam Labs for special treatment and eyelash insertion. And Melissa was kind enough to donate an extra ebl pair for my frupu! Can you just feel the love?

In any case, I hope Melissa (non-puchi) will be just as tickled with her girls as I am.

Oh my gawd. What is it about Hollywoods that is so precious!?!? This hair is just a wig, but rumour has it that her mumma is rooting her scalp with pink hair. So we went for cotton candy pinky pink explosion. Same as above except her whole eyelid is pearly magenta.

Morrigan sent me this link over a year ago and I just accidentally clicked on it and noticed this:

ts-blythered-big.jpg

yay. also blythe boxes...

kallisti_avatar.gif

First , I'd like to congratulate JoAnn for the Bust interview in the article "Women who play with dolls" (or some such)! I knew Gina, Donna & Tiff were gonna be in there from the TIB forum, but I am soooo tickled to see JoAnn's name in lights along with her sexy goh guy. Volks is getting exposure. Doh! Go get it now! June issue is on the stands.

A bit of irony re: another article in this issue (and I'm not a regular reader of Bust) is called, and I paraphrase heavily, "Financial planning for stupid fucked up slackers."

Gah! *shuffles feet*

The other book we bought at B & N was "Financial Planning for dummies." Yes, I know. So dumb. But it's true. I'm one of those people who stood around at cocktail parties looking fantastic all through my twenties. Now I'm 35, married, still manage to have the cool dot.bomb job and I'm absolutely clueless. As my therapist (yes I'm seeing one) kindly put it "you are completely unprepared for adult life."

That hurt.

But suddenly I want to know I won't be a homeless junkie when I'm 68, and it really, really matters. So what does that mean? I HAVE TO STOP SPENDING MONEY.

That hurts too.

I can't stand being here. There is so much to do at home that I am climbing out of my skin.

My pretty girl awaits! Aaaaaaaaaaah!

Dear Mr. Kallisti,

| | Comments (0)

Look what is coming out on my birthday:
128_2.gif

Madamoiselle Rosebud! And I even like her outfit. And she has a hat. Yay!

Translated from someone (sorry, I got it off of TIB or I'd give ya credit!):

The romantic model, "Mademoiselle Rosebud" is elegant like a heavily scented rose in full bloom. Her long hair is a feminine pink, and she also sports a chic-coloured dress. A cheerful, and yet always individual atmosphere surrounds her. This Blythe is a kind of a fashion leader, with her dress, although slightly retro, is also very popular right now. You can almost hear her say, "Why don't we go to a party somewhere today?"

Also, ohmigawd. Jellykiss.com posted that Volks has added Century Models to their english pages. Gigi! I've been pining for her forever and was just thinking last week that I should try to find her.

main.jpg

Um, and then there is THIS dress:

Sigh. All of it quite unjustifiable.

Also, I've been suffering from the nastiest cold since last Tuesday. I blame le Marquis, they were sick as heck when we were in Tahoe.

Oh! Oh! Also, my uncle gave me all of my grandmother's old postcards. Three old shoeboxes full and a couple albums. So Mr. Kallisti and I spent the weekend sorting and organizing them by state and type. And then we added his grandparent's postcards, so now our families postcards are comingling for all eternity. Yeah, yeah, we got all mushy about it.

Sheesh.

Seeing double

The most fabulous thing happened when I posted asking for a used Frupu on TIB. Christina of the gorgeous seamstress talents emailed and said she had a nudie Fruit Punch she wasn't bonded with and proposed I customize a Silver Snow for her in trade for Frupu! That is the above, Polly's twin sister! I haven't yet fixed her bangs and glued her scalp down yet in that picture, she'll look a little tidier. She's going home to Christina tomorrow, and then I'm going off to Tahoe for a few days to spend some quality time with le Marquis and zee boyfriend who will be staying there til Wednesday.

Yay! Mountains! Penny slots! Cocktails!

So happy. Mr. Kallisti is working himself into a froth.

Also! I have a light skinned Go Guy & light green 8mm dollfie plus eyes on ebay. Please to buy.

Oh nurse!

[queue animaniacs theme]

(for the whole scary gallery)

I love being out from work for a couple days and coming in and finding my desk piled with packages. Weee! I had a package from Celga w/ the ensemble above and a Lemonade Doll custom wig (not shown). I had a box from Christina with my Fruit Punch! Joy! And Dolly Dolly 4 finally wended it's way here from HLJ.com.

Miette's been playing with my old steel syringe. The Nurse outfit is by KAT and I got it off of YJP for a steal. This is my favorite outfit so far, I think. And Miette snatched right out of Fifi's little fingers. The dress is made out of a real nice polished cotton and zippers up the back. The hat is really well put together, you can't see the back but it has that envelope nurse style detailing with a little pearl button holding it together. It has gorgeous uber poofy petticoat, a frilly white garter belt and stockings that the garters attach to. And it came with the clipboard complete with patient work up paperwork. The syringe is mine, circa "very old."

Oh! And can anyone tranlate this note from Kat? I imagine it is just "Thanks, have a nice day!" or something, but I'd like to know. Afro Ken though, sheesh.

And here's the last time you'll see Fruit Punch in her natural state.

She was a trade from Christina (of the awesome Blythe outfits), I'm doing a custom Blythe for her. This is the best trade ever! Woot!

Tiny stitches!

I got two sets of handmade gorgeousness yesterday!

First was from Miss Mandy:

The cutest sailor girl outfit ever. There is also a skirt out of vintagey sailor fabric and stripey legwarmers. Yip!

And got another care package from Christina! I love her sooooo! The most awesome stripey tee w/ jolly roger and some stuff that isn't shown here. Um like.... BUNNY SLIPPERS!!! And a puppy. *falls over*

Blythe Gathering, weee!

| | Comments (1)

There were A LOT (34? 37?) of blythes and a lot of cameras!

Full Gallery: http://www.blastmilk.com/blythefest/

Quick rundown: 12 of us (including 3 spouses! howz that for dedication!?!) met at the Wishbone shop on Irving in San Francisco. After a quick headcount we headed over to Manny's (sp?) Thai and took half the tables. Luckily the place was empty! There was more Blything than food but the food was reeeeal good. We then trekked into the park (not far) to the Japanese Tea Gardens for some exquisite photo opportunities. We got lots of stares and comments, and folks taking pictures of our dolls and of us taking pictures. Three Japanese girls squealed with delight when they saw us and took some pictures, and got really excited when Devon and I whipped out the Super Dollfies. Weeee!

It was overcast, cold and windy, but our pix still came out a little over exposed in the Tea Garden. It was an awesome and sweet day. So happy to meet and re-meet everyone!

*hearts hearts hearts*

more pictures! oh boy!

| | Comments (3)

Here's Fifi wearing her boyfriend's leather.

Actually a Volks boys leather, but I had to have it after playing with Devon's Shirou! This jacket is very similar, but I think the Shirou jacket had epaulets? In any case, baggy but DIVINE. All the zippers work, fully lined, perfect.

(click here for more pix! )

Tomorrow we're going to a Blythe gathering, but I'm also bringing Fifi along as she needs to get out more! This will be her first trip abroad. We've been fussing about how to transport her all week. She's too folded up in our big picnic basket and the same would be for the small rolly suitcases we looked at. So rather than folding her up in the basket, Mr. Kallisti came up with this:

When he called me into the room to ask me a question I almost pee'd I was laughing so hard. He took a 2x4 cut to length, and wrapped that in batting. He's encased her feet in a sock and yes, that is half a plastic cup wrapped around her face. She's then tied to the board with rope. Through my giggles I asked him if he was going to lay her on the railroad tracks. He shrugged "you paid a lot of money for her, I don't want anything to happen."

We're then going to wrap her in a towel. In any case, we're in the market for a violin case she'll fit into.

And I apologize for more Polly pix, she's quite the camera whore. And these are a bit similar to yesterdays, but look how awesome she looks in Calliope's original outfit!?!? Much better, bunny girl.

(more bunny girl)

Last but not least, here's Totoco Kisara in the new leather girl outfit by Takara, and grown up Mazzy in Azone's prefab punky girl oufit. Swoony!

We went through 324873 boxes in the garage and finally found the original box for my camera. I think we're gonna try to sell both mine and my husband's and do a serious camera upgrade. So if anyone has a favorite in the $300 range that has super macro capabilities and uber megapixelage, please comment!

Happy Endings...

| | Comments (0)

I got my tracking # this morning from HLJ.com, my Dollfie Dream is on her way. And the EMS charge was only 3600 y! EDIT: I just ordered the floor length DD wig in pearl white directly from Volks. Wooo!

And last night I received news that my Over The Stripes Blythe order was cancelled! It is too limited and the shop will not be carrying it afterall and advised that they will probably only be available outside of Japan for $300. Or whatever.

The Lord giveth & The Lord taketh away.

Thank you Mylaar!

Miss Polly is a customized Silver Snow! She's been matted, blushed, washed, brushed and had her eyes poked out and replaced (thanks Paul for the p-chips!).

She makes me very happy. Squeeeeak!

There's two fat galleries! Warning! Dolly alcoholism in progress.

Calliope gets a facial

| | Comments (4)

I matted her face with Mr. Super Clear. And let me just say right here there are no other contenders. This stuff is magical. Do whatever you can to get it, it's worth the trouble. Both HLJ.com & Domuya.com are carrying it. Go. Now!

Wee Doll Fest El Cerrito Style

| | Comments (2)

Angrybutter (and lovely friend) & Aznbutterfly came by the cottage this afternoon. Aznbutterfly brought his brand spankin' new Shirou who he promptly stripped to show us his willie! Oh boy! So Fifi of course felt obligated and dropped her drawers as well to the delight of all.

Here's some really awful pix we took of the dolly fest. My light was bad. Piffle.
Aznbutterfly brought a Kenner Blythe, wooo! She's also wearing a GORGEOUS ensemble by Christina (who did Calliope's outfit). Also notice aaaall of Angrybutter's brilliant girls. I love them SO MUCH. Wah. Funny thing is, Blythes look really great in a cluster. She opened up her pack and they were all belted in, snug as a bug, and absolutely adorable.

Must resist owning 2394734 Blythes.

Velvet Night Fairies

| | Comments (1)

I finally broke down and bought the Azone Velvet Night Fairies outfit for 60cm dolls. I have the 1/6th version and I love it SO MUCH! It is a wee bit small, there is a 1/4" gap where the dress/apron zips in the back. Bah! I don't care, though it might matter for other outfits!

But it is exactly like the wee version, made out of the same fabrics. It comes with blouse & pantaloons, all gloriously detailed and pintucked, satiny black dress w/ heart shaped bib and lots of lace, a simple white tulle petticoat and velvet jester hat with tinkly bells.

I'm kicking myself for not taking pictures of her with a 1/6th doll in the same outfit. Doh! But there are more pix in the Fifi Archives.

K, added Fifi & Molly to the gallery. Squee!

And here's a couple more pix of Calliope, *eeeeeeeeeeeeee!* She makes me squeal.

Calliope Mouse

| | Comments (1)

I was bound and determined to finally get Calliope's redo up tonight. She's been more or less done with the reroot for two weeks, but we've had out of town guests, and O! so many things to do that I haven't polished her off. And I still haven't. I have plans for her eyes, plans I say! I just fixed the downward glance, that is it. And yes, we sawed her head open, poor girl! And so ya know, this is a Velvet Minuet, rerooted with a pink & black bob.

She is sporting the most exquisite outfit by Christina, aka Oriettacat. I am so unworthy, and in awe of her fabulous wee tiny talents. The outfit is all hand sewn, gazillions of tiny stitches hold this ensemble together. And oui! she did the pink kitty too. Can you stand it?!?!? (I can't, I cried when I received it)

Calliope will be buried in this outfit.

On a side note, I made baked ziti for the season five premier of The Sopranos. It was really easy and really good.

And I regret having no pictures of this, but Mr. Kallisti came home excited earlier this week. He'd found a drag queen clothing shop in Berkeley, and knew I would love it. We made it up to Telegraph Ave yesterday and I walked out with two, TWO petticoats. Pink & black. Doh.

Girls with assitude must shop with the drag queens.

So I've been running around the house in a pink petticoat tutu all day... and sweat pants. Woooo! It's good to be me.

Oh! And the good news is, I've had a small surprise money windfall and don't need to sell anyone to get the Silver Snow Blythe. Phew! Who can resist the white hair that maybe at some time in the future could be dyed!?!?
