I Cari Estinti

Picked this up last night: Marion Peck's I Cari Estinti (The Dearly Departed). Sentimental portraits of small children and pets.

You can picture how fast my little legs took me to the check out counter at the downtown Berkeley comic shop. Weeeeeeeeeeeeee! The little girl above is how I picture Imogen. Just perfectly. I even have a wig similar. Sigh. I lurves her so much!

Marion Peck favorites: Hair, Divine Swine, and The Happy Captain!

Strange Bedfellows

We've got the Christmas spirit here at the House O' Blastmilk! I can't believe I snuck back and got the camera without this little love fest breaking up. Mr. Kallisti started singing "Ebony and Ivory."

Butter didn't like so much the vintage doll bed Mr. put together for me last night. The spring mattress support acts just like a real one and her legs went all super wobbly. We caught Biscuit on it though. He'll sleep on anything.

(Note: Bed was super bargain, but it is huge at 28 inches long o_0 who has space issues!?!?! But I couldn't resist, I don't have a bed for the big girls! They needed one. For real.)

Mad Dog in the Fog

Thank you Auntie Kelly! Butter's swanky anthropologie sweater really did the trick in this mornin's fog. ♥!

I just spent $60 on pastel chalks. Daaaaamn. I needed some new colors, my palette has become too predictable. But... daaaaaaaaaamn. They just opened a Blick in our neighborhood. And while tidy and well stocked, they don't carry Winsor Newton Brush Cleaner™ that we use for face-up removal by the gallon, and they are more expensive than the good ole Utrecht up on University Ave. So while they had these really cool shiney glittery pearly pastels, it ain't worth the extra expense for all the other stuff.

I was looking around for a cool box to hold all my loose pastels and was surprised when I didn't find one. Mr. Kallisti glibly informed me that artists do not accessorize their chalks and just re-use the boxes the sets come in. o_o

Well, I never! I told him I'm an artist and I always accessorize!

Speaking of which, I leave you with the best accessory: Butter... modeling an outfit her gramma sent from Michigan as an anniversary present! A bit too small, Gramma!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, a small, dark, sideways video of Butter humping her bed.

Bastille Day 2006!

Yesterday we celebrated July 14th with Ze "Bal de la Victime" Bastille Day Dolly Picnic! 'Twas awesome. Myself, Mr. Kallisti and Butter, picked up The Robots (Nadja & Will) and met up with St. James, Idrisfynn & JennyNemesi near Pioneer Meadow in GG Park. Unbenownst to us the meadow had been taken over by large tents and giant african foam heads o_o. So once KellyHime and Mr. KellyHime showed up on their vespa, we nipped around the bend to the Rose Garden (two rose garden dolly picnics this summer!) and claimed the least swampy bit of rising ground. Maggie joined us shortly, I'm glad she got the communique that the little group had moved!

(Ondine as the costumer who forgot her contacts :p)

The weather was wacky, alternately sunny and bright then cold, blustery with billowing fog. You'll notice in the pictures how they suddenly turn leaden grey or are over exposed. Ugh! Still, we had parasols, lots of parasols. Cake and booze unburdens the soul. Olives and brie feed the mind. And my new favorite cocktail: Trader Joe's Blueberry Soda with B & B (cognac & benedictine)... YUM!

I've been sewing for two weeks preparing two outfits. The empire Merveilleuse dress Aurelie is wearing and the split bodice Patriot dress for Hermione. I think pattern making has finally clicked, I drafted two dresses and a corset in the past two weeks. Wooo! You can see inspiration from my collection of images of costuming circa the French Revolution.

(the custom cake from The Cake Gallery. reeeeeeeeeeally goooooooood! btw, re: marie antoinette... she never said that.)

Hypermaniac is refunding my so-som money. I'm really heartbroken. I'll use the mullah to go to LA in August, and then I'll start the hunt for another so-som or a different tiny. It was like a phantom pregnancy. I had a whole bag of goodies just waiting for her to come home and she never did.

On another note, Butter met my family for the first time yesterday and was a super star. She also got her first bee sting, ouch! I'd been waiting for it to happen as she keeps chasing them :p I thought it was in her mouth, but we found it right in the middle of her chin this morning. Poor boo.

Paul came up this last week for his show of custom painted vinyl at Super 7 (please to buy). Went to the opening friday and had a blastorama! Lots of friends, beer & plastic monsters. I fell in love with a red glitter godzilla and Mr. Kallisti promptly smacked it on the counter and brought him home for me, along with 2347834 beasties. Yay beasties! I could decorate an entire room w/ this godzilla as the centerpiece. He's just that fabulous.

Biscuit is two years old today! Woo! Or tomorrow perhaps... we estimated his birthday as he was a feral and we don't know exactly when he was born. I'm so proud, he's grown into such a zen kitty. Still a bastard cat, but so wise.

Sunning himself on our back porch. Nothing finer. Except a moobie of him not moving and Butter being giddy.

For a Biscuit retrospective, please visit my Cat Category!

And the obligatory Buttery Nipple shots.

Are you sick of my doggie yet? Rawr! Please click below for doggie rambling.

Firstly, I am sunburned! Pastey pinky people like me are usually very well prepared for outings. However, I was fussing with packing and dressing til the last minute and completely forgot my sunscreen. At least it was overcast all day so I didn't feel it :p

The Tea was awesome! I forgot to take pictures of the food (and half of my own dolls, d'oh!) but everyone really went all out with the lovely snackies. And boy was it appreciated! There were like 6 fruit salads and I ate each one. Yarm! Liz even brought hot Mock Turtle Soup! Woot! We brought the cute picnic ware, drinks and absinthe was served. Nouvelle Orleans for the curious ^_^ tell them Kallisti sent ya!

Linky to full gallery!

85 or so dolls at last count! I love our dolly people. They rock, veritably.

Since I neglected to get pictures of Ondine & Lulu & Aurelie at the tea I should prolly take more pix while they look so cute. Tomorrow is PUT THE HOUSE BACK TOGETHER DAY AFTER RIPPING IT APART AND DRESSING DOLLIES. Woot. Maybe that and a leetle bbq. Love life.

Today is Butter's day! Her two week adoption trial is over, no returns after this point. To celebrate I will inflict you with way too many pictures of our early morning walk. Also, I finally measured her skinny li'l neck this morning: 8"!

6:00am

At the end of my block is Creekside Park. My cottage doesn't have a fenced yard, so this is where we get all our excersize. I love it! They recently renovated this park, laid that beautiful path that is all tiny pieces of colored broken glass, but left the old stuff that I found so charming, like the dried up pond and the lichen covered fence that once enclosed it. I wish this pond was functioning, it is so cute! I have no idea when it was built, but it runs right along Cerrito Creek that is the border between El Cerrito and Albany, and this park is right at the foot of Albany Hill. The trees are blossoming, and it is all dewy and cool in the morning. Butter doesn't mind it one bit.

Finally! I knew that if I just waited long enough that HLJ.com would get in the Alice & Heidi Rune Dolls. They started showing up on YJP so I've been antsy to bring them home.

So my 1/6th doll collecting has split along two very distinct lines: Gothic & Lolita, and Fairy Tale. I love it. Someday I will have a way of displaying them all attractively in a dust free environment :p for now they rotate in and out of a tiny glass cabinet and la Casa Formica.

On the puppy front: omg I love my dog! Butter seems to be coming along really nicely. We had a really big weekend. Lots of long neighborhood walks. Laura came over with the lovely Gus (a gigantic brindle/akita/whatever mix) last weekend and this to take us to Pt. Isobel, a huge and gorgeous off leash dog park that is just down the road from us. Laura knows dogs and can navigate the crazy dog people, so she is Butter's godmother. Last weekend Butter was all growly at everyone. This weekend she was awesome. She played good curious doggy and didn't growl at anyone. I'm not letting her off leash yet as "come" doesn't come naturally. But I was so proud. And Gus is a really good role model as he's the perfect dog. We also met another Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound mix. We saw him from across the park, he looked just like butter except w/ a bright ginger coat, a bit larger, and the tips of his ears flopped. We chatted with the owners and marvelled at our dog's similarities.

I still think dog people are crazy, so much noise and fuss! I get overwhelmed a bit by it all, the anxiety doesn't help. But this is fun and I'm getting out and about more, which is awesome.

This is my life.

"Web 2.0 is a fresh-faced starlet on the intertwingled longtail to the disruptive experience of tomorrow. Web 3.0 thinks you are so 2005." - Zeldman, as per usual

Save me from the buzzkill.

I apologize for the lack of DOLLIES AND PUPPIES, KITTENS AND BUNNIES!!! Honest. We'll be back.

I just got a new momoko today. rawr. OMG, I love her *falls over*

I'm thinking of adding a category of chamber pots in art & literature to the blog. I've been meaning to do a perma-gallery forever but just don't have the time to even update my old hobbies. So I thought maybe a random collection of images and book references posted to the blog might spice things up a little. Not scatalogical at all. Just intimate and old timey. Weeeeeeeeeeee!

Or, Butter Bat... or, Molly McButter... or, Miss Lulubelle the Circus Freak... weeeeeeeeee!

Dude, not only do I have some really bad pictures, but I have some reeeally bad video on youtube! Our camera is not the vid-master. So the night shots were awful. But cute enough to inflict on the internet.

This is my favorite picture so far:

If anyone can tell what kind of mix she is I'd appreciate the input. She's about 7-8 lbs, so on the large size of Chihuahua. And has a hilarious snaggletooth smile. Poor li'l gargoyle. Eeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Click below for too many peektures of Butter. It is hard to capture the wiggle-butt!

Imogen is a star!

Angelregion has added UFK kits for tan & milky white. And the sample doll for milky white is my Imogen! I've been trying to find the perfect wigs for her. And each time I order from Audreys or Kemper hers are out of stock. Meh.

I miss my dollies, been so busy. And we're picking up my chihuahua tomorrow! So more busy. I'm wondering out loud if I should resign my modship on DoA. Work is so demanding which renders me totally useless and it just doesn't seem to be getting any better. I can't mod from work hardly except to poke in and then I work more when I get home. I don't feel that I'm giving back and am starting to feel guilty, its not fair to the other mods who work so hard!

Melissa (kitten princess) took me shopping at her pet store yesterday. I got this:

pfl_skullcarrier1.gif

Puppies legs are so long though, I'm wondering if it will be too short for her. Got most of the doggie basics. Woo!

EDIT: yes, puppy legs were too long and we had to return it :p

Name meh puppy

This is my 1000th post! So I thought I'd celebrate by enthusing precipitously about my puppy-to-be.

(since I'm too busy to post dolly peektures. we've been preparing for the imminent arrival of mama-in-law!)

We put a poochie "on hold"... she needs to heal from an incision to check if she was fixed (she was) and my mother in law is coming out next weekend, otherwise I think I would have brought her home right away!

Um, not sure if she's going to be photogenic. But she is the sweetest thing ever in person, and yes... very cute, if a bit gargoylish. Like that is an issue with me :p
