Halloween Puppy Party

Fester & Butter pose… can you tell I have a piece of chicken in my hand? Works for dogs. Not so much for cats.

Humiliating the animals. Butter hates the outfits, little Fester seems pretty keen!

Who’s eyes are buggier? The frog or the chihuahua?

Biscuit, not so much. His opinion is pretty clear!

New Beginnings!

Despite the sleepy blog, we’ve been quite busy in Blastmilk Land. THINGS are AFOOT, sweetie!

After nearly 7 years at my last place of employ, I’ve moved on to a new position as Web Development Consultant for Oxygenee LTD. & Absinthes.com. For those who don’t know, for many years I hosted an absinthe information website & community at FeeVerte.net. In 2005 it was taken over by our good friend David at Oxygenee.com. I’ve always said if he had enough work for a full time developer to give me a call. Well, it finally paid off and I’m working for this small eclectic Absinthe company located in Germany, France & the United Kingdom. All from sleepy li’l Crockett!

Here’s my carefully crafted wee home office. Purple desk thanks to Ikea’s new Isala.  This is located in our Rumpus Room.  Originally I was to put the office in the doll room, but the dolls kicked me out of the nursery!

Neeeext… since I’m working from home now what better time to adopt another rescue chihuahua! So here we are, introducing KING RUFUS!

Adopted from the Contra Costa Animal Shelter (I got Zillah kitty there earlier this year) on October 11th. He’s approximately 2 years old and was captured as a stray wandering open areas in the county for 2 months. He’s very friendly so we assume he’s been socialized and had family at one point. He’s 3.10 lbs! But we’re fattening him up to a nice 4 lbs.

As always, we want to make an effort to post more, but I can always be followed on flickr, or Facebook, or Twitter etc. links in the right column. I’m dribbling doo-dah there all day long.  When I’m not working or walking the dogs!

Pet Stay: Reno & Las Vegas

The Caesar’s/Harrah’s family of hotels has just added Pet Stay to their family of hotels. Dogs only, 50lbs and under. Small increase in nightly rate ($35 I think for Reno).

http://www.harrahs.com/petstay/

Guests participating in the PetStay program are greeted by several canine-friendly in-room amenities including a mat, food and water dishes, disposable waste bags and dog treats.

Each PetStay resort hosts a designated PetStay area within the hotel, equipped with welcome packets that direct guests to outdoor relief areas and dog walking routes. Additional Information about dog-friendly items for purchase and nearby dog services (such as grooming, walking and veterinary care) is available upon check-in at each of the participating resorts.

I’m so excited as we go to Tahoe/Reno all the time for thrifting & antiquing, and now we can bring our tiny dog. She is such a fabu travel pup. These seem like really humane amenities, they can stay in room with you, they have grassy walk area, etc. I hope this is a permanent move to accommodate our the pups!

Golden Gate Bridge: Butter

I grew up here in the East Bay and San Francisco... and had never walked the GG! So we set off on a gorgeous but windy spring day. Just before the first tower my Mother in Law lost her nerve and we turned back. Butter however, loved it! The wind! The rollerbladers! The massive traffic! Loved it.

Guess where we’re going this weekend??? Butter will report back on her first in-hotel experience!

Happy Sixth Birthday Biscuit!

Biscuit turned 6 this week! He was mine & Mr. Kallisti’s first baby together. He broke my heart the first time he gave me a bloody nose. Mr. K says its cuz he ain’t got no religion.
Best of Biscuit, the first six years!
Biscuit was an orphan rescued by Shannon (my best bud, champion rescuer of kittens!) in West Oakland. We still tell him the story of how he arrived to us all covered in poo! He’d huddled in fear in his litter box in his crate, and had a little accident. The above picture was taken after we bathed him. He was so shivery.
Here’s a Best of Biscuit Retrospective. Warning: Lots of Kitten Pictures not seen in six years!!!
He still wakes me up every morning by licking my eyes with his horribly rough sandpaper tongue. And last night he left one of my doll wigs and his favorite toy (a wire) in his food bowl.
He’s our Baby Biscuit and we love him!

My Little King: Pekoe steals a chair

Lordy knows how hard it is to shoot a portrait of a black cat! Our Pekoe is so lovely I’ve often tried, and failed to do so. After I brought home this little craigslist find the other day (gothic revival child-sized chair), and Pekoe adopted it immediately as his own, I was determined to position him to advantage to get a portrait.
And here he is, my Little King. Now with throne…

Weekend at Salon du Blastmilk!

Butter dances. She has since the first second we got her. Mr. Kallisti made her this hoola skirt ages ago, and while Harry was over he snapped a picture of her doin’ her thang.

So. Much. Love.
Harry came over Saturday for a much needed absinthe tasting & red meat eating fest! He showed up with a half dozen (at least) little neatly labeled samples of vintage absinthes for us to taste and rate. I was the silent partner, did all the typing, and added my 2 cents when I had it “slight latex after-taste like a flavored condom.” Yeah, that was me… Harry and Mr. Kallisti are off the hook for that one :p And that was just the Serpis 65!
The vintage line-up:

In between all that we went to Skates on the Bay and totally feasted on the red meat. Mwowr. And shrimp. And lavender cocktails. A rare treat indeed. It is crab season here and I think we’re going to make a trip up the coast (read: cheaper) for Valentines Day and whole crab and oysters. I’m thinking Tomales Bay.

Strange Bedfellows

We’ve got the Christmas spirit here at the House O’ Blastmilk! I can’t believe I snuck back and got the camera without this little love fest breaking up. Mr. Kallisti started singing “Ebony and Ivory.”

Butter didn’t like so much the vintage doll bed Mr. put together for me last night. The spring mattress support acts just like a real one and her legs went all super wobbly. We caught Biscuit on it though. He’ll sleep on anything.
(Note: Bed was super bargain, but it is huge at 28 inches long o_0 who has space issues!?!?! But I couldn’t resist, I don’t have a bed for the big girls! They needed one. For real.)
