I've had this outfit for two months, and have been waiting til the wintery holidays to put it on Kisara. Um. I had no idea the hood had little bear ears. This wins as the cutest Takara outfit ever. I don't understand why they can't come out with such cuteness for Blythe. And for 1800 yen too. The shoes are even better than usual.

Pardon the holiday clutter. All my toys come out of storage. Wee!

And then there's this! Wee lefton-like devil figgers. I picked these up for a pittance (as in: under $10, yo) on my last trip to Reno. They're missing their little pitch forks, so we'll have to rig something up for that. But they are SO TINY. The wee ones are about 1".

Wah! My Volks issue Haute Doll just flew through the mailbox. Woo! And my geektastic autographs arrived from Godzillafest.

I am replete.

My life.

Mr. Kallisti making me fancy kiwi cocktails, and playing Fatal Frame 2 in tandem. I love my life.

This game makes me scream and throw the contoller across the room. Let's see if I get any better. But it is definately one of the most beautiful things I've watched. Man.

My Volks Pattern Book is ordered. Direct from Volks. I split the order WITH MY BROTHER IN LAW. How cool is that? He bought a Dollfie Dream from Frank this week, and he wanted an extra head and eyes.

So excited! My first convert!

Kimono

Regarding the tattoo art kimono fabric, you can read the history of the Sailor Jerry tattoo here. The kimono pattern I adapted from this 19" kimono doll pattern, just enlarge by 121% for SD13. It is a lovely pattern, and easy to follow.

Praise be to Mr. Kallisti for making hand carved shiney black platform geta! I need fatter cord though. It looks the suck with what I have. Oh well. *blows raspberry*

This was a very fun project. I had so much fun picking out all the fabric. I probably totally screwed up kimono etiquette, but I'm like that. Ignance as Art. Honestly though, if you know something about kimono and can give feedback, I'd love to hear it!

anyone out there upgraded to Movable Type 3.1?

I have a feeling it is going to break everything. And that ljcrosspost might not work.

How's the comment control? Does it control spam? Blacklist is the suck. My brother has been flooded with 238473865 time more spam since he installed Blacklist. It was a huge mistake.

We are desperate. But we are also busy and are concerned about having to rebuild both blogs FROM SCRATCH.

Help me.

Picked up this amazing book at the flea market a few weeks ago. Paid too much for it (for a flea market) and the cover is almost completely off, and there are loose leaves. But the prose is so lively, and the pictures so fabulous. The author took many of the photos himself, and there are numerous illustrations done just for this volume, several in color.

I wanted to scan more but ran out of time this morning. I loves me some old books. And how.

Oh, and here is a quote for Miss Cadaver, who posted about Mucha and Paris and bicycles yesterday:

"Here at the aperéritif hour the crowd comes en bicyclette and automobile, and at night the hurrying waiters serve parties dining cozily in the glow of shaded candles. The Chalet du Cycle is a charming place in which to breakfast some sunny morning with the Seine gliding close by under the trees."

I so relate

From someone who quit smoking a few years ago, this is so RIGHT THERE.
Jeffrey Zeldman is every designer's god and guru. We love him like we love the memory of a favorite stuffed animal from when we were very small. I'm totally serious.

You're right Mr. Zeldman, this stone too will pass. Trust me. I'm a designer.

And speaking of designing. All this work I've been doing has energized me to think ONCE AGAIN about my own websites. Alas. Sigh. Alas and sigh.

We would like to do something with the myriad of sites we have created. But we are daunted and creatively stuck.

I don't think I would re-do everything, but certainly creating a front end, and doing some architecture magic on the back end would give the illusion of something a bit more cohesive.

We want to be seen as a whole, creative person. Instead of "I thought an army created these sites! You can't all be the same person? What a freak! Have you been taking your pschytso meds?"

Oh boy, oh BOY!

1) Notice from Frank that my big ole Volks order is shipping.
2) Notice from Celga that 2 months worth of shopping is shipping SOON, including Mitten and Unoa face (the latest hasn't arrived yet I think) and ALL KINDS OF STUFF.
3) Surprise item that takes 18mm eyes should be here any SECOND.
4) Lusis: January is creeping closer and closer and closer... eeeep!
5) Volks has the new pattern book, but shipping is $25. And CLEARLY there isn't anything else I need. Pines for patterns.

I am so spoiled I could shoot myself.

Resolution for New Year: save for car, d'oh!

Oh, but I'm looking for Jun Tachibana's outfit *cough*... NEEDS IT.

my dolls and me

stolen from Mara, I had to respond to the thread on DOA "Do you make assumptions about owners based on their dolls?" as well:

My dolls dress like I used too.

I'm old and rounder now, but have always been expressive. I still run around in the house in tutus on the weekend though. I'm 36, by the way.

And wear bunny ears inappropriately.

I was too old for the Gothic Lolita scene but I SO LOVE IT, and completely live vicariously through my girls.

I've had fuschia hair. And bloo. And cherry red. But mostly I'm a carrot top.

And I do dress up in Edwardian lace.

And big boots and petticoats. I have a green tutu covered in giant daisies.

But some of the stuff I never would have worn because it was not cool to buy ready-made punky-punk clothes BACK IN THE DAY. Hehee. So I love spoiling my dolls with them.

My first concert I wore a piece of black fabric safety pinned on the side because they didn't make black mini-skirts in 1982. I think it barely covered my tush. I was fourteen.

My dolls are absolute expressions of who I am.

This could easily be a picture of Fifi. Halloween 2001 in New Orleans:
