I whine because I won Lin (ssssssecret yo baby!). I whine because I'm hoping beyond all reason that the NY Dolpa LE released at the request of American collectors will be Sasha. I whine because I'm going on a fantastical, once in a lifetime journey to Europe. All of which require ungodly sums of cash.

...and Araki-san has chosen June 16-30 as the once yearly open preorder for Unoa girls Lusis & Sist. O! my life is hard! Pity me. And then stab me in the eye with some shaddup you over-privileged whooooore! *winky*

(there is always a chance that Mr. Masamichi will not be participating in said preorder, that has happened before, and we'll all be s.o.l.)

Have I mentioned buy my stuff lately? Yeah.

Spent a superbly wet and stormy Saturday afternoon at Kelly & Robert's for a Valentines Dolly party. My pictures didn't come out (wah! dumb old memory card).

But it was lovely! Amazing the group of people crammed into their mini urban victorian apartment. Dollizens are so well behaved though, I don't think a thing was broken, despite having supplied a nearly full bottle of absinthe for the hosts ~_^ There were heart shaped ginger cookies, a big pink fluffy cake, heart shaped pasta salad and pink champagne! Yay!

I brought Hermione, St. Trinian & Aphra Diver. To make up for my lack of party pictures, I spent Sunday afternoon, finishing up the dolliverse cleanup, and taking pictures. It was a surprisingly bright and tepid day, so the light was none too bad!

Hermione is wearing the new Musedoll.com wooly hoodie. It is very snug, you have to take the head off to get it on, and the hoodie part will probably only fit an 8-9" head like Ciel's... Hermione's F16 noggin is way to big to pull it up. I love it however! And Trinian's coat perfecly matches.

Just to say: redheads are better.

It feels like each post this winter has been an apology for not posting. Well, we gots stuff going on. This last weekend was spent in a strange fever. *gack* I tried to get ready for work this morning, and the outfit I ended up with said it all: STAY IN BED

However, I dream of dollies all the time, dollies and old friends. So we're still here. I did manage to give St. Trinian the spa treatment a week or so ago! There's a close-up with pictures of the new old china cabinet below.

Yes, that is Tonner's Hortencia (Cinderella's evil stepsister). I totally love her and Euphemia, they are snooty-tastic. I think they are better Ellowynne Wilde-style candidates for the spooky girls. Hortencia here has the plus sized doll body, she's all big and round. I really like it actually. Her clothes are actually too big on Unoa large milk part body! 'magine that! Also, I don't need to rename them.

We also scored an old printers tray to fill with tiny objects. Phew!

I've also done some other dolly love sick day projects... cleaned Casa Formica from floor to ceiling, including all the dollies therein. They've all been dusted, washed, redressed, combed... and the case of a few Blythe's, shampoo'd, conditioned and dried. Phew! They needed some lovin'... and to make room for my new girl, Ichigo Heaven, that I've been dragging to work with me recently :p

All of which we are trying to do without, because we're saving for a trip to Europe this summer. Weeeeeeeeeeee!

Resolutions:

• buy nothing (ha!)
• sell everything
• keep shifting and selling to improve living conditions
• finish scanning library into database (woo!)
• make mattress and bedding for old iron dollbed sitting in the middle of our living room
• repaint St. Trinian who is finally dismembered, well scrubbed, and ready for her Blastmilk Dolly Hospital Visit.
• Check in Miette, Fifi & perhaps Lulu to same Hospital Ward... er, some time this year
• sew handsome suit, street urchin outfit, and lots of top hats for Lord Foppington
• sew purty dresses and chapeau for girls and use up some of those gazillion pieces of fabric I've stashed
• redo templates for meathenge.com
• go to Europe and try not to hyperventilate and turn blue before I get on the plane.
• prepare panels for Dollectable! I'll be doing several... I think... eeek! what fun though! but it is the weekend before Boveresse (Euro Trip) so I need to prepare ahead!

Lord Foppington Presides as The Lord of Misrule over the Saturnalia Festivities at the Blastmilk Home for Wayward Girls (and one boy).

Yes, wee Dropsy is hidden in that cage Ondine is dangling menacingly. Notables missing from the festivities are: Demelza & Ermengaarde, who are both in the head cabinet sulking.

Who has a problem? I do. I'm addicted to dolly pattern books. And I will go through crazy lengths to get them. And if I had more time, I'd actually make stuff from them.

And I just found out they've released Voleur de Rose vol. 3 "Phantasm"... die. swoon.

That makes three editions so far in a year? Awesome. Does anyone know of a better way to get a hold of these other than trolling YJP?

Also, Little Princess has a new site (I think it is new) and says one of her favorite bands is "Daisy Chainsaw." Yay.

P.S. I'm still looking for the DDK MSD Alice Pattern book from 2004 "Couturerie Recipe" if anyone knows where to find one...!

Regarding this post I am going to try preordering from one of Volks' new fangled authorized US dealers: Rochelle at Kerbey Lane Doll Shop [post here]. No guarantees, but at least I'm on a list for that swimsuit, and no CA tax if I get it (not such a big deal on smaller items, but still). I've bought stuff from her back in the olden days and she was super nice, both my Pirate Sylvie outfit and The US Convention outfit designed by Nat came from her, at totally reasonable prices etc.

I will report back my findings! So far it seems really similar to how it worked with Frank. You just kind of point and say "I want that, the white one w/ blue trim" and they say "alright, you're on the list if we get enough! 20% deposit on all dolls!" etc etc.

Poor thing.... Saint Trinian has been chasing him all over the house since I began working on him. It's not that my girls don't like boys, they've just never seen one before! Thanks be to commissions from Mercy I get to play with the awesomest of dollies w/ the natty naughty optional parts.

In Tribute to Jack, here's my Artful Dodger!

Ondine Alice & Saint Trinian cuddle in their new duds. They look like something out of a book Dickens never wrote. Ondine Alice is in Dollheart's "Earl" while St. Trinian is froofy fruffy in Ajumapama. The Dollheart outfit is less expensively constructed than usual, but it was reflected in the cheaper price. It is still gorgeously cut, just the velvet isn't as fine as their other outfits. I like the trend towards lowering their prices a bit so this is really cool. The boots are amazing, but too short for Ondine's long calves... they bulge inappropriately on the back of her lanky calves, and Mr. Kallisti had to use pliers to snap them shut, but oh well. They rock! I think the Ajumapama outfit would have been better with mary janes rather than boots, the boots cover the socks almost completely! Still, very cool.

Saint Trinian is in sore need of body clean up and face-up redo. As are several of my dolls. But I think her and Miette are definately next in line for the spa!

Yuzuko posted about a mook on Japanese love dolls, "I-doloid" which I had to run out and order and have EMS shipped for Mr. Kallisti's christmas stockin'. Amazon.co.jp = yay.

Both copies I got have Gentaro Araki Unoa spreads. One introduces the new boys and their, um... equipment. The other looks like an intro for Unoa Quluts the 2nd, I'd need some translation help if someone is bored enough.

Milk & Choco are 43cm... so same height as the current Unoas. Are these future releases or WOT!?!?! More va-va-voom pix below the cut!

Got Zman's stitches out today! She's doing well but she lost some weight :/ a 4lb kitty is scary, when at her pudgiest she was 8lbs! So I've got special food and I have to give her intravenous saline treatments. Scary! But it looked simple enough. My vet is so amazed by her little body. She's alive!

I got home a bit early from the vet. So many dollies, I'm going to spoil you with their loveliness. I need to do another family portrait soon!

Look! I finally found the origin of one of my dolly dresses. Only interesting to me really because I've had it since I was little. I think I bought it at a garage sale with my allowance.

It is a dress from a 14" Madame Alexander "Snow White" from the 60's. Aw! Mine is dingy and the sleeves and snaps have been mended by my little uneven baby hands in blues and pinks.

Just so you know, it fits msd & unoa w/ boobs like a dream! ♥

And yowza! Dollheart held a competition earlier this year for designers and they did an amazing job recreating everyone's work. Too much loveliness.

Also, have you ever bid on a BUNCH of YJP auctions with ridiculously low bids hoping to at least scoop up one thing for a bargain and then WON EVERYTHING?!?! Oops. I won 4 auctions this morning and a couple BIN. Celebrating my quarterly bonus is one thing, but I didn't mean to celebrate THAT MUCH! No silly coffin backpack for me.

And proof positive you can go thrifting for your dolls! A $2 handmade dress (40's-50's) I picked up in a favorite Martinez antique store two weeks ago. The fabric is SO CUTE! And is a perfect fit.

Been so busy, with projects, work and family. But caught Demelza looking serene this morning. For kicks I finally tried her on the SD13 body and she looks fantastic! Ondine, however, is not enjoying being stubby. Looks surprisingly ok though.

Never would have thought she'd look so fetching as a blonde. She's also wearing a pair of lovely mauvy purply brown glass eyes I picked up from Gloria on DOA. They're reeeeeally nice!

Also, FINALLY got the volks msd outfit from Kyoto 3. I hadn't seen it anywhere! St. Trinian neeeeds it. Now, I need those creepers.

And yes, that is the only non-Liz thing I've bought since my vow! Go me.

And then there's Biscuit. Just for hoots we put him in the doll carriage the other night, and he sat there for about 10 minutes! His butt just fit in there. Amazing. He was quite happy.

Saint Trinian, Ginevra & Miette

I got a box, a crate rather, of leeke wigs yesterday. They were a LONG TIME in coming. Some order mixups didn't help. Heh. But I got some shrimp candies for my trouble. Yay!

But the wigs. Oh my. I got a whole crate of milk white and blonde wigs. And one wittle pink wig in braids for Trinian. Would have got more for Miette, but she wasn't even a twinkle in my eye when this order was placed in er... January? Ugh. In any case, I *love* the wigs. They are a finer fiber than the volks wigs, like mermaid hair. I love the milk white, I got three of them. Oops. And Miette is wearing one of the new ankle lenght msd wigs from Volks.

Their outfits are all vintage bits and pieces. Ginevra's overskirt is made out of an old detachable dress collar. I just gently gathered it and added a waist band.

And have I mentioned? I've preordered Liz. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
